YOGYAKARTA (March 2, 2020) - As many as 30 Social Workers from the Social Service and Rehabilitation Centers that deal with child issues participated in the Social Assistance Training for Children with Legal Aid (ABH) implementing Field Learning Practices to the Sleman District Police Station.

Social work is a field of expertise that has the authority to carry out various efforts to improve the ability of people to carry out social functions through interaction so that people can adjust to their life situations satisfactorily. Social workers are seen as a field of expertise (profession), which means they have a scientific and artistic foundation in practice. Social workers carry out their role to help themselves and others, to help the people and to help themselves or carry out interventions against clients must have competency standards covering first knowledge, second skills and third values ​​or principles. One of the roles of social workers whose role can be played is to provide assistance and advocacy for children in conflict with the law (ABH).

In accordance with the provisions of the Convention on the Rights of the Child ratified by the Indonesian government through Presidential Decree Number 36 of 1990, Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection, Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to the Law Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection and Law Number 11 of 2012 concerning the Criminal Justice System for Children (SPPA) all of which express general principles of child protection, namely non-discrimination, the best interests of children, survival and growth and development and respect the participation of children.

Legal protection for children can be done as an effort to protect the law against various freedoms and children's rights. Protection of children also includes interests related to child welfare. The protection of children in conflict with the law (ABH), is a shared responsibility of law enforcement officials. Not only children as perpetrators, but also includes children who are victims and witnesses. Therefore it is very important for Social Workers to understand all the legal processes that apply when conducting ABH assistance in the framework of their professional practice.

To complete the ABH Social Workers Training at BBPPKS Yogyakarta, carry out field practice (PBL) to related institutions including: Pres Unit of Satreskim Polres Sleman, Sleman District Attorney, Sleman District Court, BRSAMPK "Antasena" Magelang, LSM "Rifka Annisa WCC", BAPAS Class I Yogyakarta, Community in Central Java Province, LPKA Wonosari.

Field learning practice activities carried out for 8 days in 8 locations using a concurrent placement model arranged based on an agreement between the parties in the practice location with BBPPKS Regional III Yogyakarta. When PBL participants are invited to do information gathering, observation and role play.

Training is held on campus 2 BBPPKS Jl. Veteran No. 8 Yogyakarta for 25 days from 24 February to 19 March 2020.
