JAKARTA, (January 6, 2021) - Tri Rismaharini's fast action efforts to deal with displaced people in Jakarta have been carried out since the first day of serving as the Minister of Social Affairs.

Every morning, she meticulously approached people sleeping on the sidewalk or on their battered carts.

Risma approached and invited the displaced people who were included in the social welfare service recipients (PPKS) to be placed at the “Pangudi Luhur” Bekasi Social Rehabilitation Center for the Ex-Homeless and Beggars (BRSEGP).

On this day, Wednesday (6/1) Risma managed to get three people to stay temporarily at the hall belonging to the Ministry of Social Affairs.

First, the man born in Jakarta, 48 years old, Irman Yudha, who one and a half years ago worked as a scavenger, he used to be worked at a LotteMart.

Second, a young man from East Bekasi, 17 years old Firman Utina and has been a scavenger in the capital city of Jakarta for a year.

"Initially, I wanted to work at Tanggerang with my friend being a waiter in a restaurant, but when I got there it was unclear until I ran out of money and ended up being a scavenger," said Firman.

Third, M. Rohim, a man born in Blora 1984, is an online motorcycle taxi driver, but when his motorbike was pulled by leasing, he finally couldn't work anymore.

“I live with my family in a rented house in Buaran. However, I am worried that I will be evicted from the rent because it has been 2 months since I cannot afford to pay the rent anymore,” said Rohim.

The three of them were willing to stay in the hall after undergoing an initial assessment by Quick Reaction Team (TRC) at to the Ministry of Social Affairs.

The next stage, the TRC together with officers from the MoSA delivered 3 PPKS to the hall so they can get a variety of skills, including making compost, shaving hair, raising catfish, and car mechanics.

The social services provided to scavengers prove that the Ministry of Social Affairs is present in the midst of PPKS who need to improve and develop the social functioning.
