MEDAN (August 25, 2021) - Social intervention
for ZPN, the neglected poor in the Sidorejo Village area, Medan City continues
to be carried out. On the second day (23/08/2021), Social Rehabilitation Center
“Medan” represented by the Head of the Center Lyana Siregar, Head of the Social
Rehabilitation Section Tien Septemberiawati and Social Counselor Tama again
visited ZPN's rented house.
As previously reported,
the two ZPN children are known to have dropped out of school. An approach was
immediately taken by "Bahagia" Center team so that the two ZPN
children would go back to school. Of the 2 ZPN children, GWN (16 years) and RF
(11 years), only RF accepted to be given access to education again. Meanwhile,
GWN is still not willing to continue his education and wants to work directly
to fulfill his life needs.
Based on the previous
recommendation, it is hoped that ZPN and his two children will receive
residential services so that the social intervention provided can be maximized.
Psychosocial Support Services (LDP) are still being carried out for GWN because
it is based on the results of the assessment that has been carried out and
considering that GWN's age is still in the category of children and education
is one of their needs. The approach is still carried out for GWN to want to get
residential services in the Center and open access to non-formal education.
On the third day
(24/08/2021), the team together with ZPN and their son RF visited the Yabes
Community Learning Activity Center (PKBM) in Medan City. The purpose of the
visit was to register RF in the package A school equivalency program. Arriving
there, the manager of PKBM Yabes, Tiur Nainggolan warmly welcomed the arrival
of the team.
"Earlier one of the
staff of “Bahagia” Center had explained the problem and I would be very happy
if I could help," said Tiur.
RF was immediately
registered by the team to be able to receive the package A school equivalency
program. Later, learning will be conducted online and learning books will be
sent directly to RF.
"For all the costs
needed, we are ready to facilitate it," said Lyana.
After registering for RF
to attend non-formal schools, the team moved back to the ZPN’s rented house to
make another approach to GWN to want to be transferred to the Center and
receive residential-based services.
