BLITAR (May 1st, 2020) – The spread of COVID-19 has a considerable impact on society. They experience a decrease in income, loss of jobs, a sense of anxiety, and a big fear of being exposed to the virus. This is due to a lack of understanding of the COVID-19.

“Harapan Mulia” non-governmental group (KSM), or also known as Percik Romo Batik Production House located in Resapombo Village, Doko Sub-district, Blitar Regency, is one of the replications of the Sheltered Workshop Care (SWP) and “Kartini” Social Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (BBRSPDI) in Temanggung. In this place, persons with intellectual disabilities carry out productive economic efforts to make batik ciprat or batik percik.

In the midst of this pandemic, the Percik Rombo Batik Production House has innovated to develop batik ciprat with the COVID-19 motif. The companion of Percik Rombo Batik Production House, Rita S, said, “The spread of COVID-19 virus raises concerns in the community. The COVID-19 motif of the batik percik that we have developed is a means for education and dissemination for the community to always comply with the government’s advice to diligently wash hands, carry out social distancing or physical distancing in order to stop the transmission of this virus”. It turns out that this motif is very popular, we received a lot of orders, he added.

There is certainly something different about the routine of persons with intellectual disabilities at the Percik Kombo Batik House Production in the midst of this pandemic. Assistance is carried out extra strictly in implementing government regulations to keep a distance, wear masks, and always wash hands with soap.
