BEKASI (8 February 2022) – Social rehabilitation center "Budi
Dharma" in Bekasi carried out the third dose of Covid-19 vaccination or
booster for elderly beneficiaries on Tuesday (8/2/2022). Previously, the first
and second stages of vaccination had been carried out in collaboration with Bekasi
City Health Office and Duren Jaya Health Center.
"Eight elderly beneficiaries at the "Budi
Dharma" Center in Bekasi who meet our requirements include booster
vaccinations as recommended by the Government," said Pujiyanto, Head of
the "Budi Dharma" Center in Bekasi.
A booster vaccination is a Covid-19 vaccination
after a person has received a complete primary dose of vaccination aimed at
maintaining the level of immunity and extending the period of protection.
The government's current Covid-19 vaccine booster
policy is intended for ages 18 years and over, at least 6 months after the
second dose, and in areas with vaccination coverage of 70 percent of the
population for 1 dose and 60 percent for the complete dose.
In practice, out of a total of 8 registered
beneficiaries, only 6 were eligible for vaccination and had sufficient time for
at least 6 months after the second vaccination. Simultaneous vaccination
activities organized by the Indonesian National Police were held at
Chandrabhaga Stadium.
Margahayu Village Head who took part with the
elderly, Siti Sopiah conveyed the purpose and objectives of this activity.
"This booster vaccine is prioritized for the elderly, so we pick up the
elderly directly at the Bekasi "Budi Dharma" Center," said Siti.
One of the elderly who received the booster vaccine, Musiatin (82 years old), said that after half an hour of being given the booster vaccine, he had not yet felt any effect.
