JAKARTA (October 22, 2021) - Located at the Ministry of Social Affairs’ Assessment Center Building, Cawang Kencana, Jakarta, for about 51 candidates for the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (KND) commissioners underwent a competency test or Profile Assessment.

According to the Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Harry Hikmat, this competency test is a continuation of the previous series of tests, which are intended to get an overview or profile of the intelligence capabilities of the prospective commissioners as well as to get a picture of their personality, including those related to behavioral and emotional tendencies.

Participants undergo the test by working on the questions that have been prepared according to the required competencies, interviews, and group discussions. Conducting tests under the supervision of competent assessors in talent management recruitment and profile assessment.

The test was followed by 31 Persons with Disabilities from various disabilities. In addition, 20 Non-Persons with Disabilities. "The Ministry of Social Affairs is very concerned about the equal rights of Persons with Disabilities. Therefore, the provision of accessibility and proper accommodation is of utmost priority in undergoing the test," said Harry.

Harry added that for participants with disabilities, the selection committee provided companions/readers for persons with visual sensory disabilities and sign language interpreters.

Interestingly, the method of delivering the test is done with modifications in the implementation of the test. According to Harry, conventionally in every competency test or psychological test, there is always a picture question or an assignment to take pictures. However, in this test, those things are changed.

"Considering that persons with visual sensory disabilities have difficulty in making images, the test was modified without reducing the purpose of the test, so that the outcome of the test did not decrease," added Harry.

Special Staff to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Angkie Yudistia also visited the location of the competency test in Cawang Kencana, to see firsthand the selection process. "Thank God, when I see the process is going well and smoothly, even though they compete with each other, they support one another," he said.

He also hopes that the entire selection process will run smoothly until the President appoints them as KND leaders, this is a new history for Indonesia having a new institution for persons with disabilities.

During the test, participants are provided with accommodation and assistance to make it easier for them to carry out the test. Participants are also facilitated with transportation from their place of residence to the test location, including those from outside the region. The day before the test, participants were given technical guidance for the test.

Harry said that from the 51 people, there are 21 candidates for the best KND commissioners would be selected, who would then take medical tests and interviews. From the overall results of the test, the Minister of Social Affairs will propose the best 14 candidates for commissioners to the President of the Republic of Indonesia to be appointed as KND Commissioners as many as 7 people. It is hoped that the elected commissioners will be sworn in by the President on the commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (HDI) on December 3, 2021.
