SEMARANG (27 November 2019) - Director General of Poverty Handling (Dirjen PFM) Andi ZA Dulung said that social assistance (bansos) in the future will shift to empowerment. He conveyed this in accordance with the emphasis of the Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P. Batubara, who advised that in the future, the provision of assistance must shift to empowerment. "In the future, I think the challenge is getting tougher, Minister Juliari Batubara has the same emphasis, that in the future we have to shift not only social assistance by providing assistance such as providing assistance from BPNT (Non-Cash Food Assistance) and PKH (Family Hope Program) but we must shift to empowerment, "Said the Director General of PFM at the Program Coordination of the Directorate for Poverty Handling Region II.

The Director General of Poverty Handling said that the transition from social assistance to empowerment was intended to reduce poverty not only temporarily. "The social assistance that we distribute to beneficiary families (KPM) actually reduces poverty, but it is temporary because it only solves basic needs," said the Director General of Poverty Handling who also opened and gave direction to the activity Wednesday night. at a hotel in Semarang (27/11).

Continuing his remarks, the Director General of PFM conveyed the efforts that could be made so that KPM could get additional income, one of which was the provision of assistance from Joint Business Groups (KUBE). "What we need to do is how they (KPM) can get permanent additional income, I think we have done various ways including the provision of assistance from KUBE, Joint Business Group," added the Director General of PFM.

This is in line with the request of the Minister of Social Affairs to increase empowerment, one of which is with the assistance of the KUBE. "We are required to handle, perhaps up to one million KPM per year, so far all of Indonesia is only 110,000 KPM. In Region II, if I'm not mistaken, around 40,000 KPM or around 4000 KUBE," explained the PFM Director General.

The Director General of Poverty Handling then said that the key to the success of this KUBE also depends on the role of local governments in registering and distributing KUBE. Therefore he also asked for support from the Regional Planning and Development Agency (Bappeda) to use his APBD if he needed additional programs. "Friends from Bappeda ask for their support, if there is a need for additional programs financed from the APBD for the success of the empowerment program," concluded the Director General of Poverty Handling.

Previously, the Director of Poverty Handling Region II, I Wayan Wirawan, submitted a report on this activity. In his report, it was conveyed that the activities held were aimed at obtaining information about the realization of the implementation of activities for handling the poor in Region II through deconcentration funds in 2019, creating a common understanding between the central government and local governments regarding programs of poverty handling through deconcentration funds, and the existence of support from local governments in the implementation of poverty management program activities through sharing the APBD budget.
