SURABAYA (1 May 2021) - Social Minister Tri Rismaharini inaugurated the Sawunggaling Bridge, today, Saturday (01/05). The Social Minister expressed her gratitude for the opportunity.

"I am grateful to be invited to this inauguration while I am no longer the mayor of Surabaya. This bridge might be seen as just a normal bridge. However, this bridge is more than that. This bridge is to handle intermodal transportation integration in Surabaya City,” said the Social Minister in Surabaya.

She emphasized that the bridge was not just for connecting. It was a mean to overcome interconnection through the intermodal concept. "Previously, the plan was to have a track to go to second floor to meet the busses. The switching modes will facilitate the movement of people," she said.

The bridge also helps people to access the parking lot and terminal, as well as access to West Surabaya. Actually there is also a plan to connect to other places in initial planning. "But because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is not feasible," she said.

"The concept of the terminal is intermodal. So there are trams, buses and angkot (public minivan),"s he said.

This bridge is also a strategic location connected to the zoo. She hopes that parking spot for zoo visitors can be at that location because the location is wider.

Only then can it function as the connecting intermodal terminal. "Here you can take an angkot, then take an intercity bus or other available public transportations," she said.
