PRINGSEWU (22 March 2022) - A total of 51 elderly attended the Elderly
School Graduation at the Amanah Bunda Pringsewu Social Welfare Institution
(LKS), Tuesday (22/3/22). The Chairperson of the Elderly Graduation Session was
led directly by Agung Mudapati as the Advisor and Yalva Sabri read the
Graduation Participant List and immediately did the Graduation. The head of LKS
Amanah Bunda Pringsewu, Kartinah said that 51 people who took part in this
elderly school graduated were Bachelor's Degree or S1.
“They have completed and followed the entire
material learning process well for 12 months. So, it is possible for the second
learning to continue, there will be the second graduation of Postgraduate or S2,"
he explained.
According to him, the participants who took part in
this elderly school graduation were on average from the lower economy with an
age of around 60 to the oldest in their 90s.
“These elderly mothers, on average, from a weak
economy, only graduated from elementary and junior high schools, some are even
illiterate. Because learning is not formal. Their curriculum is like
Spiritual, Psychology, Health, Skills, Sports and Recreation,” said Kartinah.
Kartinah explained, the purpose of the elderly
school learning at LKS Amanah Bunda Pringsewu is so that the elderly can
increase their life expectancy.
“The goal is for the elderly to grow in health,
happiness, and independence. So, they (elderly) know how to apply it so that
they can be healthy, diligent in doing worship, and some are still able to work for earning some money. Because they are also taught
skills,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Lampung Province Social Office,
Aswarodi said that the Amanah Bunda Pringsewu senior school was the first
school in Lampung Province.
"We are obliged to give appreciation to the
establishment of this Elderly School which was inaugurated directly by Mrs.
Riana Arinal Djunadi. Because, the benefits are enormous, we hope that the age
of these elderly may be something that must be increased by one year. But the
spirit must remain," he said.
Aswarodi continued, the existence of an
elderly school is to foster a healthy, happy and alive spirit.
