MANADO (20 May 2020) - The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs is collaborating with the Post Office in disbursing Cash Social Assistance (BST) funds in all regions in Indonesia, one of which is Manado City which will be disbursed today Wednesday, May 20, 2020. The report was submitted by the Head of the Manado “Tumou Tou” Center, Kamsiaty Rotty as an extension of the Ministry of Social Affairs in the North Sulawesi Region.

Previously, BST had been disbursed in several districts, namely Tomohon Regency, Tondano Regency, Southeast Minahasa Regency and East Bolaang Mongondow Regency. Only today, May 20, 2020, coincides with the day of National Awakening, BST funds can be disbursed in Manado City.

The Head of the Social and Empowerment Service for the City of Manado, Sammy Kawaanoan, said that “This cash social assistance has been disbursed from a few weeks ago for several distribution locations in North Sulawesi. Today, praise God, BST for Manado City can be distributed. "

The disbursement mechanism will be carried out by rotating the system every one hour according to the schedule stated at the Post Office for each District. This is done to avoid crowds, which are the biggest risk of being exposed to COVID-19. PT POS Indonesia strictly maintains the BST fund disbursement agenda by placing several securities at vulnerable points of disbursement locations.

The head of the Manado “Tumou Tou” Center, Kamsiaty Rotty urged that after the disbursement of BST funds, beneficiaries do not immediately go to the Mall or Market to buy new clothes, because the purpose of providing BST funds is to meet the basic needs of daily life so that risks being exposed to COVID-19 can be minimized.

The event ended with a symbolic delivery of Cash Social Assistance and was closed with a group photo. Henceforth, the BST funds will still be disbursed in several areas in North Sulawesi ahead of Holy Day.
