Youth Organization as the Front Guard to Succeed Government Policy

JAKARTA (2 March 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs makes a serious effort to address social problems by involving social pillars, namely the Youth Organization, District Social Welfare Workers (TKSK), and Community Social Workers (PSM).

Since its inception to the present day, the social pillars have proven that they are not only able to solve problems in society, but also become the forefront of the success of government policies and programs.

According to the Directorate General of Social Empowerment of the Ministry of Social Affairs, in implementing the programs, social pillars must collaborate and provide education and service to the community. One of the efforts is carried out by Youth Organization in handling the COVID-19 pandemic.

Youth Organization must be able to make an approach and explain to the public on how to prevent the spread of COVID-19, for example by campaigning the implementation of health protocols: using mask, washing hands with soap with running water, and maintaining distance.

In various regions in Indonesia, Youth Organization plays a strategic role in preventing COVID-19 by distributing masks in public places, spraying disinfectants in houses of worship, and being active in post-disaster management.

The Youth Organization is expected to be able to carry out social restoration by restoring the values of mutual cooperation; strengthening the importance of sharing and practicing it. The Youth Organization should become an inspiration for people to increase social participation, community’s ability to solve problems, social integration, and arising awareness of mutual help.

On Tuesday morning (2/3/2021), the Social Minister Tri Rismaharini, accompanied by the Director General of Social Empowerment Edi Suharto, will inaugurate the National Board of the Youth Organization and the National Advisory Council for the Youth Organization for the 2020-2025 period. This is the result of the 2020 Youth Organization National Work Meeting held at Aneka Bhakti Building, Ministry of Social RI, Jalan Salemba Raya No 28 Jakarta.
