Ministry of Social Affairs Receives IDR 100 Million Donation from Victory Community Church for NTT Disaster Management
JAKARTA (20 May 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs received donations from the Surabaya-based Victory Community Church. The IDR 100 million donations will be distributed to disaster victims in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The Social Minister expressed her appreciation for the aid of all parties, including the Victory Church for their concern and willingness to help fellow countrymen.
"We will distribute the donations to disaster victims in NTT to improve the supporting facilities there. We will further discuss the exact use first,” said the Social Minister in the handover ceremony at the Ministry of Social Affairs office, Jakarta (20/05).
Before determining the use of this aid, the Social Minister will coordinate with all related parties and use a transparent mechanism. "I do not have the courage to decide. We can say that this is deposit money, so it needs to be transparent. Later we will discuss with all related parties," she said.
However, Social Minister felt that the important problem to be addressed immediately was clean water supply. "Still, I can't decide it by myself. If I tell you that it is for business capital aid, it might turn out to aid another need,” she said.
To ensure this, the Social Minister stated her plan to re-visit the disaster sites in NTT. "I will look again at the latest conditions there," she said. The Social Minister expressed her appreciation for the aid of all parties for the community affected by the disaster such as the business world, philanthropists, and associations such as the Victory Church.
There has been a lot of help from the community. Previously, Sido Muncul had delivered aid of IDR 500 million, around IDR 4 billion from a community through Kitabisa.com, and around IDR 1 billion from SCTV.
On behalf of the government, the Social Minister expressed her appreciation and gratitude to those who help on handling social welfare problems, especially related to NTT. She stated that handling social welfare problems required the contribution and synergy of all parties, including the business world, philanthropists and other elements of society.
