BANDUNG (January 8,
2022) - Starting 2022, the Ministry of Social Affairs launched the Indonesia
Hearing Program at Al-Hayu Baleendah Sports Center, Bandung. The Hearing
Indonesia Program is an effort by the government to provide accessibility for
people with disabilities, especially people with visual sensory disabilities
and people with hearing and speech sensory disabilities.
The Indonesia
Hearing Program is a manifestation of the Ministry of Social Affairs’ idea
which aims to provide access to information and communication for persons with
disabilities and the implementation of therapy for persons with disabilities to
maximize their body functions.
"This is an
effort by the Ministry of Social Affairs so that our brothers and sisters with
disabilities can access information. They are given a smartphone equipped with
an application that can record automatically based on the voice captured by the
smartphone," said Social Minister Risma.
Social Minister
Risma added that the assistance of smartphones and tablets installed by this
application was to make it easier for people with disabilities to communicate
and interact with the community.
Based on the BPS
Susenas in 2020, there are 22.97 million people with disabilities. This
condition of disability causes them to have less access to information and
communication, as well as access to other basic services.
However, Law Number
8 of 2016 on Persons with Disabilities mandates that persons with disabilities
have the right to obtain information and communication through easily
accessible media.
In the era of
technology, almost all life activities use technology. The use of technology
for people with disabilities needs to be encouraged to improve the quality of
life for people with disabilities.
In 2021 ago, the
Ministry of Social Affairs has begun to provide and implement the use of
adaptive technology, such as adaptive wheelchairs, multi-purpose wheelchairs,
special wheelchairs for children with cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus children's
wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs, tricycle commercial motorcycles, hot water
sensors, and adaptive crutches. In 2022, added with talking telephones and
talking laptops.
