BENGKULU
(December 7, 2021) — The Ministry of Social Affairs through Social
Rehabilitation Center "Dharma Guna" Bengkulu held a commemoration of
the International Disability Day (HDI) 2021 at "Dharma Guna" Courtyard.
The HDI
commemoration every December 3 is momentum to always remind that persons with
disabilities exist in society, have the same rights and can be empowered and
embraced to participate in the country's development.
This year, the Social
Rehabilitation Center of Dharma Guna Bengkulu held a simple but very meaningful
HDI commemoration. Persons with Disabilities are welcome to express their
talents through mime, singing, dancing, playing music, reading poetry, and
performing solo silat as well as playing the traditional musical
instrument dol and fashion shows.
Also present
at the activity were the Secretary of the Bengkulu Province Social Service, the
Director of the RSKJ Sopertapto Bengkulu, the Head of the Selebar Police, the
Head of the Bengkulu Province PSTW, the Selebar Subdistrict Representative, and
Social Welfare Institutions for Persons with Disabilities such as Gerkatin,
Genik, LKS Amal Mulya, Inclusive Community Partners and Special Schools in
Bengkulu City and Social Rehabilitation Companions in Bengkulu.
Dardi as the
Head of the Bengkulu "Dharma Guna" Center in his speech hoped that
this HDI Warning could be a reminder that we must always embrace Persons with
Disabilities to have the confidence to show their potential.
"The
Indonesian government also through Presidential Decree No. 68 of 2021 has
established the National Commission for Disabilities, this is proof of
increasing attention to Persons with Disabilities," he added.
At this HDI
Commemoration, the Bengkulu "Dharma Guna" Center and LKS PD Bengkulu
City also opened an exhibition stand for the work of people with disabilities
such as Kalamansi syrup, various snacks, accessories, handicrafts, and many
others.
Unlike the
previous year, in this activity, Dharma Guna Center gave an Award to Persons
with Disabilities with Achievements in Bengkulu City which had previously been
assessed by the committee. The criteria have been to receive awards in the
fields of sports, arts, martial arts, and others as evidenced by certificates or
other documents.
There are three types of disability categories, namely Persons with Physical Disabilities with Achievement awarded to Rahmad, Persons with Visual Sensory Disabilities with Achievements given to Agung Saputra, and Persons with Intellectual Disabilities with Achievement given to Andrian.
