PERCUT SEI TUAN (8 August 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia through the Social Rehabilitation Center "Insyaf" in Medan carried out Case Response activities through outreach activities in Percut Sei Tuan District, Deli Serdang Regency. The activity was carried out for five days starting from 05 to 09 August 2021 at the Etika Mulia Foundation Social Welfare Institution Jl Taruna APD No 7 Cinta Rakyat Village.

This activity was carried out because of the collaboration between Insyaf Medan and the Etika Mulia foundation which focuses on services to victims of drug abuse. Based on the Etika Mulia report that in the Sainties Village area, there are many Drug Abuse Victims who need Social Rehabilitation services.

From the report, the Medan "Insyaf" Center sent a team consisting of social workers and drug counselors to provide community-based ATENSI services.

Ahmad Sulaiman, Head of the Medan "Insyaf" Center, explained that currently, Indonesia is in a drug emergency, one of the efforts to fulfill the rights of victims of drug abuse, we carry out Community-based ATENSI, "we need to understand together that victims of drug abuse are victims who must be given guidance, not jailed", he insisted.

"I hope that all participants can seriously take part in the stages of this Community-based ATENSI activity so that you can gain new knowledge to stay away from drugs. Take the benefits of this activity for ourselves, family, friends and the community to avoid drugs, especially for participants, hopefully, they will soon recover from dependence Drugs", said Sulaiman, while giving directions to the participants.

During 5 days the Team will carry out several stages, namely identification/contract, assessment, intervention plan, intervention, and termination. However, this ATENSI activity does not stop there, "we will continue to monitor participants how far the progress of PPKS behavior changes until PPKS can be independent and socially function, in this case, we will continue to work together with LKS Etika Mulia", added Sulaiman.

On this occasion, Irwanto, Social Worker at the Medan "Insyaf" Center, explained that based on the results of the identification using the ASSIST (alcohol, smoking and substances involvement screening test) it showed that "participants who use drugs such as marijuana, methamphetamine, nicotine, and alcohol are still in the moderate category so that no need to undergo Residential-based ATENSI", he said.

Furthermore, Irwanto said that after we learned about the problems and needs of PPKS through a comprehensive assessment, then we held a case conference with the facilitator, LKS Etika Mulia, and the Saintis Village Apparatus to develop an appropriate intervention plan for PPKS.

The results of the case conference that have been agreed are providing education on the dangers of drug abuse, group counseling, psychosocial therapy, group dynamics, parenting skills for PPKS families, vocational training on breeding sheep, and providing stimulant assistance for PPKS.
