CIANJUR
(11 August 2021) - The Ministry of
Social Affairs through the Vocational Center for Persons with Disabilities
Inten Soeweno handed over wheelchair assistance and basic needs to the Social
Welfare Service Recipient (PPKS) in Cianjur Regency, West Java Province.
The handover of wheelchair assistance and
basic needs for PPKS was attended by the Director General of Social
Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Social Affairs Harry Hikmat and Deputy Chair
of Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), Diah Pitaloka.
Head of the Inten Soeweno Disability
Vocational Center, M.O. Royani in his report explained that as many as 19
(nineteen) PPKS received assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs with
details of 16 people getting wheelchair assistance and 3 people getting basic
needs assistance.
"All beneficiaries have passed an
assessment process that determines the type of assistance to be received",
explained Royani.
Director General of Social Rehabilitation
Harry Hikmat in his speech explained that this activity was held because the
Centers under the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation have programs to
fulfill basic needs for the community and accessibility for persons with
disabilities who need assistive devices such as wheelchairs.
In addition, Harry also said that the
Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation also has a challenge so that the
beneficiaries are not only given the restoration of social functions but also
can be empowered.
Harry gave an example at the Vocational Center
for Persons with Disabilities Inten Soeweno who was empowered by assembling a
tricycle. In this way, according to Harry, it can improve the welfare of the
beneficiaries so that they can be independent.
Deputy Chairperson of Commission VIII DPR RI
Diah Pitaloka appreciated the Ministry of Social Affairs’ efforts in empowering
the beneficiaries.
"I saw for myself when accompanying Mrs.
Risma to the Center in Cibinong, the beneficiaries were empowered to assemble
three-wheeled motorcycles which would later be used by people with disabilities
to sell and so on", said Diah Pitaloka.
