JAKARTA (January 21, 2020) - Social Minister Juliari P. Batubara is pleased to be able to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government of North Kalimantan (Kaltara) Province. The Ministry of Social Affairs is ready to strengthen the human resources for social welfare (Kesos) which is the focus of the Kaltara Provincial Government.

"I am very happy to work with the Kaltara Provincial Government which is now paying attention to improving the quality of social welfare human resources. The Ministry of Social Affairs is ready to help. Moreover, the Governor was present in person who showed a high commitment to preparing human resources in the social welfare sector.” said Juliari.

As a new province, Kaltara is indeed spurring improvements in various fields. One of the priority arrangements is the readiness and strengthening of the capacity of human resources in the social welfare sector. Juliari stated that this human resource development cooperation is in line with President Joko Widodo's priority program which emphasizes the development of superior human resources.

"The Ministry of Social Affairs will help with whatever is needed by the people and the Provincial Government of Kaltara. This could be a scholarship from the Social Welfare Polytechnic (Poltekesos) Bandung, or an educational program. Moreover, the Ministry of Social Affairs will also develop the Poltekesos Bandung campus, "said Juliari. In line with that, he hopes that in the future there will be more parties that can work together.

Governor of Kaltara Irianto Lambrie stated that the synergy with the Ministry of Social Affairs had started since the 10th day the Minister of Social Affairs was inaugurated. "We were invited by the Minister of Social Affairs. We convey the plan of Kaltara Province to develop social welfare human resources. The target of this program is on provincial government human resources first, "said the governor.

In Kaltara, said the governor, the development of social welfare human resources, in this case social workers, is still very limited. Among government employees and even the level of officials in the Province of Kaltara, knowledge of social welfare is still not optimal.

"The employees and heads of Social Services Agency should be social workers, but this is general. Therefore, the development of social welfare human resources is our focus. So, we will start with employees and later we will provide high school graduates with further education, "said the governor. For this reason, the Provincial Government of Kaltara also provides the budget needed for this program.

To actualize this policy, the Kaltara Provincial Government has taken concrete steps. "I hope the Poltekesos team can come to Kaltara to hold short-term training, and prepare a 4-year Polytechnic program and also prepare master level education," he said. So far, the Kaltara Provincial Government has also collaborated with several universities to organize social welfare education.

On the same occasion, Juliari led the Inauguration and Oath-taking of Lecturers, Deputy Directors, Head of Internal Supervisory Unit, and Academic Implementing Element Officers at the Poltekesos Bandung.

Juliari stated that the dynamics in structuring the government organization system is solely to achieve the welfare of people throughout Indonesia. Related to this, the Minister of Social Affairs emphasized that in making policies in the implementation of official duties, every official adheres to the principles of transparency and accountability.

He also emphasized that a position is a trust and a mandate from God Almighty, all of whom will be held accountable both in the world and in the hereafter.

"Therefore, do not ask for positions. If given a position, anywhere, don't refuse. Do it all with sincerity for the sole purpose of improving the welfare of the community, "said juliari.

Juliari also emphasized the importance of continuing to strengthen professionalism, honest and transparent work. "Therefore, I request the willingness of all officials to sign the integrity pact, as a symbol of readiness and willingness to always stick to the provisions of the prevailing laws and regulations," said Juliari.

No less important, employees at all levels must improve performance, maintain dignity, and work solely for the welfare and benefit of the community based on the intention of worship.
