SUKABUMI (October 17, 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through Social Rehabilitation Center “Phala Martha” Sukabumi moved quickly to follow up on the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini to respond to the presence of residents living in huts suffering from concern as reported by online media at the following link.

Head of the Phala Martha Sukabumi, Cup Santo assigned a team consisting of Social Workers and Social Counselors to go to the location to conduct an assessment of the residents with the initials SY in Kp. Rawa Bening, Cidadap Village, Sukabumi Regency on (15/10/2021).

SY (53 years old) lives with his wife in a 3x3 meter stilt house which stands on land owned by PT. Talaga Kencana. SY's house is made of used rooms and wood with a roof covered with scrap zinc and tarpaulin and there is no toilet. So far, SY uses public toilets which are about 50 meters from his house. SY said that he wanted to have a better house than the one he currently lives in. "When it rains, water seeps through the walls of the cubicle," he said.

SY has 2 children, but they do not live together in the house. One child lives in Cilacap with her husband and the other lives with her parents' in-laws, still in the same area as SY's house.

SY works as a scavenger with an income of Rp. 300,000 per month, while his wife is a non-permanent household assistant. For his daily needs, SY only relies on selling junk and extra from his wife's income when asked by his neighbors to help wash clothes or clean the house.

The Head of Cidadap Village said that SY had received assistance from the Province of West Java, but had never received assistance from the central government, because of problems with population identity. "Currently, we are in the process of SY's Resident Identity, Monday will be the recording of the E-KTP", said the village head.

Kusman as the Middle Social Worker said that Phala Martha Center would synergize with Cidadap District and Cidadap Village to follow up on the results of this assessment. "We are looking for the best solution for SY's life", he added. "SY needs entrepreneurial support for scrap business capital. Hopefully, we can make it happen together,” he concluded.

During the visit, Phala Martha Center provided ATENSI Assistance to SY in the form of Fulfillment of Decent Living Needs worth Rp. 695,000, consisting of Rice, Instant Noodles, Eggs, Sugar, and Cooking Oil. Also, present on the occasion were the Head of Cidadap District, Head of Cidadap Village, Head of the Socio-Cultural Section of Cidadap District, Cidadap Sector Police, and TKSK.
