PALEMBANG (May 14, 2020) - The distribution of the Basic Food Social Assistance Fund from the Ministry of Social Affairs has begun to be implemented in Palembang City through the Palembang Central Post Office. The "Budi Perkasa" Social Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Physical Disabilities (BRSPDF) in Palembang as the only UPT (Technical Implementation Unit) of the Ministry of Social Affairs located in Palembang participated in monitoring the distribution carried out at the Palembang Central Post Office. The Head of the Center, Siti Sari Rumayanti as well as the Head of the Social Assessment and Advocacy Section were directly involved in monitoring the distribution of this assistance.

The distribution of this assistance has been carried out since May 6th and is targeted for completion on the 16th of May. Located in front of the Palembang Central Post office, the distribution was carried out for the Palembang City area, and the four closest regencies, namely Ogan Ilir (OI) Regency, Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) Regency, Banyuasin Regency, and Musi Banyuasin Regency. The number of assistance recipients from the region is 42,900 people. Until yesterday, more than 10,000 beneficiaries had received assistance.

“Alhamdulillah, the distribution can be carried out quite smoothly, although there are shortcomings in the distribution process, it is still under control,” said Risdayati, the Head of the Palembang Central Post Office.

The process of distributing this assistance still maintains health protocol to prevent the spread of COVID-19, namely by checking body temperature, washing hands, and maintaining distance. Risdayati also said that many things needed to be maximized in the process of distributing this assistance, but she is optimistic that the next stage could be even better.
