MoSA Conducts a Comprehensive Assessment of the Viral Case of the Konelia Elshaddai Foundation

TABANAN (August 23, 2021) - Following up on the viral case of the Konelia Elshaddai Foundation which houses persons with visual sensory disabilities, orphans, and underprivileged children, which went viral on social media some time ago due to difficulties surviving the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Social Affairs through The Bali Disability Center "Mahatmiya" conducted a comprehensive assessment of the Social Welfare Service Recipients (PPKS) of the Foundation

 

The day before (22/08) "Mahatmiya" Center visited the location for a quick assessment and obtained data on 19 PPKS, namely 5 persons with visual sensory disabilities, 4 orphans, and 11 underprivileged children in foundations affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. On that occasion, basic food assistance was given in the form of 1 box of instant noodles, 1 box of coffee, 6 liters of cooking oil, 60 chicken eggs, 24 kg of rice and 5 kg of sugar.

 

The head of "Mahatmiya" Center, Sutiono, appointed two officers to carry out further assessments. "Immediately conduct an assessment of the children at the Foundation so that we can immediately address their needs," said Sutiono.

 

Next, two case response officers moved to the Sanggulan area, Tabanan Regency where the foundation is located. Based on the assessment carried out by the case response officer, data was obtained that the Konelia Elshaddai Foundation fostered 35 PPKS consisting of 19 PPKS within the foundation and the remaining 16 people outside the foundation. Of the 19 PPKS, there are 1 and 2 years old, 6 years old, while the other PPKS are between 12-25 years old.

 

The case response officer, Patmawati Setyoutami, explained that from the assessment carried out, the urgent need was in the form of meeting basic needs.

 

"The COVID-19 pandemic and during the implementation of PPKM have severely restricted their movement. Donations from donors and the public are no longer available. Currently, they really need necessities," said Patma.

 

Based on the results of the assessment of 19 people, the Center plans to provide social rehabilitation assistance (ATENSI) in the form of basic food which will be given per person includes 15 kg of rice, 3 liters of cooking oil, 6 bars of bath soap, 2 toothbrushes, 2 toothpaste, 20 packs of instant noodles, 1 pack of sweet soy sauce, 2 kg of sugar, 2 packs of salt, 20 chicken eggs, 1 can of sardines, and 1 box of medical masks @ 500 thousand rupiahs per package.
