JAKARTA (13 November 2021) – Following up on the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini to provide Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) services to Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) with problems who were repatriated from Malaysia on Monday (01/11/2021), the Ministry of Social Affairs through Balai Melati Jakarta has provided assistance to 7 troubled PMI who are undergoing the Covid-19 quarantine period at Wisma Atlit Kemayoran, Jakarta.

The seven troubled PMI are from Central Bangka and Tangerang Raya regencies, which are the service coverage areas of Social Rehabilitation Center “Melati” Jakarta. Melati Center has conducted a needs assessment and provided Psychosocial Support Services (LDP) for the 7 PMI as an effort to reduce the trauma and crisis they faced after their return from Malaysia.

There is 1 PMI from Central Bangka Regency who continues ATENSI services in the Center after completing the Covid-19 quarantine period at Wisma Atlit. The PMI with the initials AL received ATENSI services at Melati Center Jakarta before AL's social reintegration process into his hometown in Central Bangka Regency. Meanwhile, 6 PMI from Tangerang Raya have been facilitated to return home to their respective homes.

The head of the Jakarta Melati Center, Romal Uli Jaya Sinaga, explained that the ATENSI service in the Center was given to AL as an effort to restore its social function.

"Melati Center ensures that assistance for Troubled PMI will continue to be carried out. For 6 people from Greater Tangerang, we have collaborated with the Tangerang District Social Service to provide ongoing assistance after they are returned to their area. Meanwhile, for 1 person from Central Bangka, we have prepared a social reintegration process,” explained Romal.

“Today we are facilitating access for the returning home of AL to Central Bangka Regency. We have coordinated with the Social Office of Bangka Belitung Islands Province and the Social Office of Central Bangka Regency. We make sure AL gets the best assistance in its social reintegration process," continued Romal.

AL arrived at Depati Amir Airport, Pangkal Pinang, Bangka Belitung Islands Province at around 11.10 am. AL was immediately picked up by representatives of the Social Office of Central Bangka Regency who then drove AL to the family's residence in Koba District, Central Bangka Regency.

Through a short message to officers from the Jakarta Melati Center, AL expressed his happiness shortly after landing in Pangkal Pinang. "Thank God I have arrived in Bangka ma'am. Thank you for the help of the Head of Melat and all employees. Pray for me to live a better life, ma'am," said AL.
