LAMPUNG (February 3, 2022) - Social Minister Tri Rismaharini couldn't hold back her emotion when she visited Suci Ramadhani's house (8 months) in Rejomulyo II Hamlet, Banjarnegeri Village, Natar District, South Lampung Regency.

This baby has a tumor in her eyes. Every time she cries because she endures the pain that she often experiences.

The condition of the child's illness from the couple Samsul Usman and Sopiah is already quite severe because the right eyeball has come out. The baby was taken to the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Abdul Moeloek for a more in-depth examination.

“I thank the media and the public for informing us of our sister's condition. Because once again the pain cannot be instantaneous. The meaning is like this, for example, if you don't have a rectum, you will have surgery immediately, then it's finished, all you have to do is control it. But those who need treatment like this need quite a lot of time,” said Risma.

At Abdul Moeloek Hospital, the team of doctors suggested that Suci be referred to a private hospital because there is no equipment to check the baby's illness.

Constrained by the inactive BPJS Health, the family also brought this tiny baby home. This is because the family feels it is hard to bear the cost of treatment without BPJS Health.

Risma appreciates those who have provided initial assistance to Suci’s family.

“Later on, there will be social workers who will routinely accompany the process, for example needing to go to the hospital and so on. There will also be our friends from Kita Bisa who will assist during the treatment process," said Risma.

Baby Suci is the fourth daughter of the couple Samsul and Sopiah. Suci's father works as a daily laborer with an income that is not fixed or around Rp. 1.5 million/month. This number is not sufficient considering that the couple Samsul and Sopiah have 3 other children besides Suci.

Luckily, the three Suci brothers and sisters did not experience any medical problems or were in good health.

However, Samsul has the expertise to make bird cages and is interested in resuming his skills after being stopped due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Before the pandemic, Samsul was able to make 1 birdcage which was sold at IDR 250 thousand. He gets a profit of Rp. 10 thousand from a cage he makes. If it sells, the capital will be made another birdcage with the same selling price and profit over and over again.

Sopiah (40) said that Suci was born under normal conditions. It's just that Suci’s eyes have healed. However, she was suspicious of seeing Suci's eyeballs at the age of 7 months out and getting bigger. Later, the family took Suci to the hospital for a CT scan.

“Since there is no fee, I will wait. While waiting, why did the child cry and fuss, so I took her to Abdul Moeloek Hospital," said Sopiah.

At the hospital, Suci was treated for 9 days. However, the hospital referred to Immanuel Hospital for surgery. Being confused by the high cost, because BPJS was not yet active, Suci's surgery was successfully carried out with the help of residents and the government.

"Thank God the surgery was carried out on January 4 yesterday," said Sopiah.

Sopiah was also grateful for the assistance and attention from the Ministry of Social Affairs for her child. She also hopes that Suci can return to health and grow up in normal conditions.

"Thank you very much for everyone's help. Thanks to everyone's prayers and help, Suci was able to operate. Hopefully, in the future my child can always be healthy," she concluded.

Apart from Suci, the Social Minister's entourage also assisted two other chronic patients in Lampung. The funds submitted came from donors collected through the Kitabisa.com site.

Risma said that the three beneficiaries were the result of outreach to centers owned by the Ministry of Social Affairs.
