JAKARTA (August 7, 2021) - Quick Assessment of the Ministry of Social Affairs through the Bekasi "Budhi Dharma" Elderly Center on the report of an elderly person named H.Abimanyu LV. Gohhen in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, unexpectedly touched the hearts of the elderly, because after writing the letter that was posted, he had resigned himself to his situation.

"Immediately carry out a quick assessment to the location to respond to the elderly who are experiencing urgent problems, check their health conditions and their feasibility," said Pujiyanto, Head of Budhi Dharma Bekasi, to a team consisting of Social Counselors, Nurses, and Administrators.

Coordination and synergy were carried out by the Team with the Head of the Social Rehabilitation and Empowerment Section of the Central Jakarta Administrative City Social Service, Hendri, the Kemayoran Sub-district Service Unit, Kemayoran District Social Welfare Workers and the Head of Pusaka 49 Central Jakarta and the Head of the local RT.

In general, Abimanyu's grandfather's physical condition is quite good, he can still walk and do activities, but if he walks for a long time his right leg hurts. After being checked by nurses, the elderly still feel the effects of diabetes mellitus and strokes that have been experienced since 2017, cysts in the left kidney, and have fallen after a stroke, gout, and high cholesterol. Now his condition is better, thanks to his enthusiasm for recovery and regular check-ups to the hospital with a BPJS PBI card, but this has been stopped for three months because he no longer has money. "Never mind checking, ma'am, I can't even eat food, waiting for a helping hand from neighbors and friends who still remember me," Abimanyu complained.

In anticipation of being exposed to Covid, an antigen swab with negative results was also carried out and given vitamins to increase the body's resistance so that it could continue to do activities independently, especially having to struggle to go up and down stairs in a rented narrow room measuring 2 x 3 meters and there was no handrail access.

Grandpa Abimanyu does not have room facilities such as mattresses, blankets, sleeping mats, only plastic carpets, clothes hanging on the walls, no wardrobe, and no cooking utensils or eating and drinking utensils, only relying on bottles of mineral water from his neighbor.

After being abandoned by his wife because he was sick and had no income, he was depressed. His enthusiasm for survival made him rise and continue to draw closer to Allah SWT at the nearest mosque by diligently praying and zikir. “Alhamdulillah, Allah is still protecting me and I am very grateful to the Minister of Social Affairs for paying attention to the letter I sent because I have never received any assistance. I hope that I can still recover, be independent, and want to have a business, so that even though it's a small business, I can survive and leave a business for my son, who is currently 18 years old, dropped out of school and is looking for work," said Abimanyu hopefully.

Grandpa Abimanyu still wants to live independently and have his own business so he still thinks if he lives in the Center. Community-based ATENSI program with direct guidance on Central Jakarta Pusaka 49 so that the needs of decent living are monitored and fulfilled, and elderly care programs in the Central Jakarta Social Office area with life insurance in the form of the Jakarta Elderly Card (KJL).

Budhi Dharma Center hopes to cooperate with the local TKSK to ensure that the government assistance that has been taken by his ex-wife can be received directly by Abimanyu's grandfather by optimizing assistance to the elderly. The local government/Central Jakarta Municipal Social Office, is also highly expected to ensure that Abimanyu's grandfather's ID-DTKS and Cash Social Assistance (BST) and other assistance reach the recipients.
