Persons with Disabilities Have the Right to Equality in Employment

JAKARTA
(10 September 2021) - Director of Social
Rehabilitation for Persons with Disabilities, Eva Rahmi Kasim, attended the
virtual "Launching of PermataBRAVE2021" with the theme "Permata
Bank Strengthens Commitment to Empowering Indonesian Community with
Disabilities #With Heart".
Permata Bank through the "Permata Hati
CSR" program increases its commitment through strategic partnerships with
Thisable, Precious One, and other selected partners to provide more concrete support
for communities of persons with disabilities throughout Indonesia.
Permata BRAVE is a form of Permata Bank's
contribution to the development of the potential of persons with disabilities
throughout Indonesia. This is Permata Bank's commitment in carrying out social
responsibility and assisting the government in carrying out the mandate of Law
no. 8 of 2016 is required to employ persons with disabilities at least 1% of
the total number of employees.
Permata Bank's Head of Corporate Affairs,
Richele Maramis said, "We open access and opportunities for people with disabilities
to receive training, financial literacy education, entrepreneurship guidance, and job opportunities".
"We believe that persons with
disabilities have the same potential and should have the opportunity to compete
in both the professional and entrepreneurial sectors," she continued.
Richele added, this year Permata BRAVE is back
with a new program that is expected to further develop the competence,
creativity, and competitiveness of program participants. Thus, persons with
disabilities can be economically independent and ready to enter the world of
work and business.
Special Staff to the President of the Republic
of Indonesia for Social Affairs, Angkie Yudistia, on this occasion said that one
way for persons with disabilities to generate income is to increase their
potential and become entrepreneurs. "To support this, there is a need for
collaboration between the government and the private sector in providing open
access to persons with disabilities to obtain social services such as
education, health, and employment," explained Angkie.
Head of the Financial
Literacy and Inclusion Department of the Financial Services Authority (OJK),
Kristrianti Puji Rahayu who was also present at this event said, "OJK
strongly supports various programs targeting persons with disabilities,
especially activities that can help encourage their financial independence and sustainably improve their quality of life and we hope that other
financial services businesses can support the same."
Support for the Permata BRAVE
program also came from the Director of Indonesian Domestic Workforce Placement,
Nora Kartika Setyaningrum. "The level of employment received by persons
with disabilities in the formal sector is still relatively low. For this
reason, the Ministry of Manpower urges all business actors to be more open and
provide access to employment opportunities for persons with disabilities.
Hopefully, through this program more persons with disabilities will get the same
rights as other communities. in terms of employment," said Nora.
Permata BRAVE will continue
to support the Indonesian community with disabilities in the form of access to
education, financial education, financial assistance as business capital,
disability aids, and scholarships.
The Vocational Center for
Persons with Disabilities Inten Soeweno Bogor as the Technical Implementation
Unit (UPT) of the Ministry of Social Affairs has collaborated with Permata Hati
CS since 2018 by providing vocational training for persons with disabilities
for their job readiness. Permata Hati together with Perbanas Institute made
modules and held various financial education classes which consisted of
material on financial management to the basics of investment.
Permata Bank also opens
opportunities for graduates from training centers who are interested in doing
internships at Permata Bank according to their respective interests and
abilities with the opportunity to become Permata Bank employees.
In 2020, through the
Businesses Initiatives program, the Permata Bank Syariah business unit
collaborated with the Yatim Mandiri Foundation to empower MSMEs with Difabel
Dhuafa with 49 beneficiaries spread across several cities: Jakarta, Bekasi,
Bandung, Surabaya, Jombang, Madiun, and Jogjakarta.
In addition, Permata Bank's
Retail Banking business unit is also committed to assisting the digitization of
MSMEs with disabilities through various dissemination, training, and access to
Permata QR cashless payment facilities. This is a manifestation of Permata Bank's
commitment to supporting the inclusiveness of cashless transactions in Indonesia.

support and collaboration of various parties, equality for persons with
