BANDUNG (20 May 2020) - Indonesian people are fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic. This does not diminish the care between each other. Reports of public complaints to the "Handayani" Center for the Rehabilitation of Children in Need of Special Protection (BRSAMPK) in Jakarta came back from the cadre of Family Welfare Development (PKK) in the city of Bandung. It was reported that there were four children with disabilities affected by Covid-19, namely "S", "D", "K" and "F".

Based on the report, the Head of the Children's Center "Handayani", Neneng Heryani, immediately assigned a case response team to conduct tracing and assessment of the 4 children. "Pay attention to the needs of the children and immediately provide assistance in fulfilling nutritious food to the four children," said Neneng

The case response team headed to Bandung, which is also the area covered by the "Handayani" Children's Center to immediately respond to the case. Accompanied by Tuti as a PKK cadre in the Bandung area, the “Handayani” Balai Anak case response team went to the children's house one by one and immediately carried out an assessment.

It is known that "S" is a 15 year old girl. Initially "S" was born normal without any obstacles, but at the age of 4 months he had seizures accompanied by a high fever. After the incident, "S" experienced a deterioration in brain performance and experienced resistance to movement. Until now, "S" couldn't speak and couldn't move her limbs. His father, who is the backbone of the family, is currently having difficulty finding work. Previously, "S "'s father worked as a factory worker. However, due to this pandemic, he had to stop working so that the family's needs could not be properly met.

Furthermore, "D" is a boy aged 17 years. He had problems with his brain since he was 2 years old. It is known that "D" once fell in his father's lap as a child. "D" often experiences bullying from children of his age, so he no longer dares to leave the house. His father works as a construction laborer and for the past two months, it has been difficult to meet family needs because he has no income during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"K" is a girl who was just born in November 2019. Since she was born "K" has no palate in her mouth, so she has difficulty breathing and drinking breast milk. In addition, "K" can not respond to sound stimuli heard to him or the objects he sees. Due to these conditions, according to the doctor, surgery should be performed for "K". Parent "K" is currently unemployed and has difficulty making ends meet.

Lastly is "F" a 13 year old boy. He experiences obstacles in the performance of his brain, causing delays in thinking. The "F" family lived in a small rented house that was crowded enough to accommodate 4 people. Currently, his family's economic condition is disturbed because his father cannot work because his place of work is temporarily closed due to this pandemic.

All of them were given nutritional fulfillment assistance in the form of milk, vitamins, fruits, biscuits and other supporting foods. Furthermore, there will be periodic monitoring of the four children.
