"Rumbai" Center Provides "Trauma Healing" Services and Assistance Packages for Flood and Landslide Victims

PADANG PARIAMAN (1 October 2021) - Heavy rains and strong
winds hit Padang Pariaman Regency (29/9), especially the Korong Keramat Jaya
and Korong Tanah Taban Nagari Pasia Laweh locations, resulting in fallen trees,
floods, and landslides.
Strong winds that
occurred at the Tomb of Sheikh Burhanudin Ulakan, Korong Keramat Jaya caused a
tree to fall. This incident damaged 23 residents' stalls, 1 visitor died,
including Jaminar, a woman (50 years old), 1 person has a fracture, and 2 other
people were slightly injured.
Meanwhile, the flood that
occurred in Korong Tanah Taban Nagari Pasia Laweh Lubuk Alung District, Padang
Pariaman Regency caused the landslide Wednesday night at around 19:00. As a
result of the landslide, 2 houses were heavily damaged, 1 house was damaged in
the kitchen, 7 people died, 1 person was injured, and 12 families were affected
by the flood. All the victims have been successfully evacuated by residents and
the bodies are currently in the cremation process.
The fatalities were 2
families living in 1 house consisting of 4 adults and 3 children. The seven
victims who died were Andi Karba (46), Yernis Gowasa (43), Esnimar (19), Pianus
Nduru (25), Aldi Firman Nduru (12), Wita Sriwahyuni Ndururu (8), and Putri
Nathasya Ndururu (6). In addition, 1 person with a broken bone condition, Yuwita
(41) has been taken to the hospital and the surgery has been done.
Following the
direction of the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, Thursday
afternoon (30/9) the Social Rehabilitation Center "Rumbai" in
Pekanbaru dispatched an emergency response team in collaboration with the
Social Service of Padang Pariaman Regency, Padang Pariaman Regency BPDB, Padang
Pariaman Regency Tagana, and the Social Rehabilitation Companion to provide
Psychosocial Support Services (LDP) as well as assistance to families of
victims affected by floods and landslides.
Based on the team's
identification in the field, the families of the victims who died needed
compensation, fulfillment of basic needs, and daily equipment for flood-affected
victims, and psychosocial support was needed to reduce the impact of trauma.
The late Jaminar left her
family and resides in Batu Mangaum, Sungai Geringging District. The late Pianus
Ndruru leaves his wife, Yusimalai Laia.
Meanwhile, the late Andi
Karba leaves behind 1 child, Kesayangan Ndruru, who survived the disaster because he
was living in Padang City, studying computer engineering at Putra Indonesia
University. Currently, he is in Padang Pariaman and lives in the house of a
priest.
"Rumbai" Center in Pekanbaru provides
psychosocial support, strengthening, and motivational services in the form of
psychological first aid to Kesayangan Nduru with the aim of healing trauma and
easing the psychological burden considering the entire family died in the flood
and landslide disaster.
Met at the pastor's house which is located at Jl.
Talao Mundam Ketaping, Ndruru recounted chronologically what he knew,
"That night (Wednesday, 29/9) I heard the news that a family was hit by a
landslide in Tanah Taban. Around 10 p.m I got news from a friend who lives
there, he said you don't have to go home tomorrow morning. From there I called
my uncle and was told what happened, asked to go home tomorrow morning because my
father has passed away, "he explained.
The Head of Rumbai, Ahmad Subarkah, said "We, on
behalf of the Ministry of Social Affairs convey our deepest condolences, may
the bereaved family be given patience, and the Lates are placed in the best
place. The important thing is that you have to keep strong, keep your spirits
up because after all, you have to continue your family's dreams to be realized
and succeed in your future career."
To help ease their daily needs, "Rumbai" Center
distributed 14 packages of basic food assistance, 12 packages of family kits
(in the form of mattresses, pillows, and blankets), and 10 packages of baby
kits for flood-affected victims in Korong Tanah Taban as a form of rewards.
Some are vulnerable groups. There are 6 elderly and 10 toddlers.
One of the victims affected by the flood, Asmiati,
thanked the Ministry of Social Affairs through the Pekanbaru "Rumbai"
Center for the assistance of necessities and family kits, "Thanks to
all of you from the Ministry of Social Affairs, I hope the sustenance goes
smoothly," said Asmiati, offering a prayer.
The Regent of Padang Pariaman, Yusrita, accompanied by
the Head of BPBD, Budi M., who was also present at the disaster site expressed
her gratitude.
"Thank you, Ministry of Social Affairs for helping
to relieve and provide reinforcement to our residents."
