MEDAN (16 May 2020) – In the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic, the "Bahagia" Social Rehabilitation Center for People With HIV (BRSODH) in Medan is implementing various programs, one of which is a Public Kitchen for Iftar Aid. This program is a tangible form given by BRSODH "Bahagia" in Medan in reaching people affected by COVID-19.
Through his direction, the Head of the "Bahagia" Hall in Medan, Sri Wibowo, said that this program aims to provide food assistance to people affected by COVID-19, targeting the economically weak, such as pedicab drivers, street children, beggars, parking attendants and so on. Sri Wibowo said that this program coincided with the fasting service, so that the distribution of food aid began to be distributed in the afternoon before breaking time.
This program targets 1500 food aid to people affected by COVID-19, where in its implementation the "Bahagia" Hall team in Medan consisting of structural and Civil Servants (ASN) participated in the program by going directly to pockets of areas considered to be the target population of the program.
The mechanism for providing food assistance has been planned for one month by involving the relevant Social Services, Social Welfare Institutions (LKS) and sub-districts around the "Bahagia" Hall in Medan.
The participation of other agencies and institutions related to this program has gone through a process and careful planning and continues to pay attention to health protocols in implementing activities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This public kitchen program is not limited to fasting times, but will continue during the COVID-19 pandemic.
