Social Minister Attends the Launching of Cash Social Assistance in Serang

SERANG (May 9th, 2020) – The Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs, Juliari P. Batubara, attended the launching of Serang City and Serang District’s Cash Social Assistance. This activity was carried out at the Serang City Post Office while adhering to the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) to stop the spread of COVID-19.

The Social Affairs Minister said that the Cash Social Assistance (Bansos) will be given to beneficiary families in the amount of Rp600,000/KPM/month for 3 months, starting from April to June 2020. The Cash Social Assistance will be distributed by the Ministry of Social Affairs in collaboration with PT Pos and Himbara.

Furthermore, the Minister instructed that all activities need to be carried out in a disciplined manner during Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) to face COVID-19.

With the Cash Social Assistance, the Minister hopes that the assistance can be used properly by KPM. “For those (KPM) who receive Cash Social Assistance, please use the money for useful things,” said the Minister to the KPMs who were present.

On the same occasion, the Director General of Poverty Handling, Asep Sasa Purnama, accompanied the Minister of Social Affairs in this activity.

The Director General of PFM conveyed that with this Cash Social Assistance, it is hoped that KPM can maintain food security during the COVID-19 pandemic. “We hope that this Cash Social Assistance distribution activity can be carried out well, and the beneficiary families affected by COVID-19 can gain strength to maintain food security,” said the Director General of PFM.

For Serang City, as many as 4,865 KPM will receive Cash Social Assistance. Meanwhile, for Serang Regency, as many as 68,638 will receive Cash Social Assistance.

The Cash Social Assistance Distribution Activity was also attended by the Secretary of the Directorate General of PFM, Nurul Farijati, the Director of PFM Region II, I Wayan Wirawan, the Banten Regional Secretary, the Mayor of Serang, the Deputy Regent of Serang, the Directors of PT Pos, as well as the Regional Government of Serang City and Serang Regency.
