BANDUNG REGENCY (27 August 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs continues to ensure the rights of children who are orphans, fatherless and motherless because their parents died due to Covid-19 through the Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) program. The Ministry of Social Affairs has provided ATENSI support to these children in several areas.

The loss of primary care for children can impact on children's growth and development, including not meeting basic needs, lack of daily care for children, psychosocial problems for children with new families neglected children's rights related to identity, education, health, experience violence, neglected and vulnerable children are sent to foster care institutions.

Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini supports orphans, fatherless and motherless through the Child Social Rehabilitation Assistance Program (ATENSI). This program is to support children's lives and reduce the burden on families in caring for orphans, fatherless and motherless.

This Child ATENSI program includes support for the fulfillment of the right to a decent life, social care and/or childcare services, family support, psychological social therapy, vocational and entrepreneurship training, social assistance, and accessibility support.

Wahyudin, a 15-year-old child who is in class 1 of SMK is one of the beneficiaries of the Ministry of Social Affairs in the Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) program. He got a savings of Rp. 200,000 which could be used to meet basic needs such as necessities and nutrition.

Wahyudin was included in 20 orphans, fatherless and motherless who received ATENSI assistance in the form of Bank Mandiri savings which were handed over by Social Minister Risma during a working visit to Soreang, Bandung Regency, West Java, Friday (27/8).

"Thanks to the Ministry of Social Affairs, I am happy to get savings. Later I will buy school supplies and buy vitamins," he said.

For Wahyudin, who is the eldest of 3 children, the ATENSI Ministry of Social assistance is the first aid from the government for him. After the death of his mother, his family's economic condition became even more chaotic because his father only worked alone as a porter in the market.

This is also the reason he remains determined to continue his education no matter what. He wants to be able to help his father in meeting the needs of his family after graduating from school.

Diana Tresnawati, the mother of Nadira (10 years) and Nizam (10 months) felt the same emotion, whose father died of Covid-19. Behind the joy of their children receiving support from the Ministry of Social Affairs, of course, are still devastated by the departure of her husband (the father of Nadira and Nizam).

"I really appreciate, Social Minister Risma wants to pay attention to the position of children whose parents have died due to Covid-19. Hopefully, this program can continue for other children who have the same condition as Nizam," he said.

Previously, ATENSI support for orphans, fatherless and motherless affected by Covid-19 had also been given in several areas, such as in Sragen, Central Java as many as 200 children on Tuesday (24/8) and in Serang, Banten has given to 5 children on Friday (27/8). This ATENSI support is for the fulfillment of basic needs such as necessities and nutrition.

The Ministry of Social Affairs has proposed a budget for the handling of 4,043,622 orphans, fatherless and motherless whose parents have died due to Covid-19, those in the Child Welfare Institutions (LKSA) or those who are cared for by poor families.

The index of assistance for children who have not gone to school is Rp. 300 thousand/child/month and children who are already in school are Rp. 200 thousand/child/month. The period of this assistance is 12 months.

"I make sure that we will help orphans, fatherless and motherless later through the Program"
