JAKARTA (28 August 2020) - Stunting is a big issue for the Indonesian people. Due to stunting, the nation's generation can experience a setback due to impaired physical health and intelligence conditions.

Therefore, the government and a number of groups continue to move to campaign for the prevention and control of stunting in Indonesia.

In dealing with stunting, the Ministry of Social Affairs through the Educational Research and Social Counseling Agency (BP3S) collaborates with the Tanoto Foundation to develop human resources in the context of stunting reduction and prevention through training in human resources (HR) for social welfare (Kesos).

Today Friday (28/9/20) Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P Batubara attended the kick-off meeting on stunting handling accompanied by the Head of BP3S Syahabuddin. In addition, the CEO of the Bhakti Tanoto Foundation (Tanoto Foundation) was also present.

The Minister of Social Affairs conveyed in his directive that this collaboration between the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Tanoto Foundation should be supported by all levels within the Ministry of Social Affairs and encouraged to strengthen the potential of all Social Welfare Organizers.

"Without the courage to innovate and make policy breakthroughs and cooperation, hopes to reduce stunting rates in Indonesia will be difficult to realize," said the Minister of Social Affairs in a written statement.

The meeting was held to discuss how the design as well as training models that are efficient but still effective can target Human Resources of Social Welfare (Social Workers, Social Counselors, PKH Facilitators, SLRT HR, and so on).

This activity is also a follow-up to the Joint Agreement between the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs BP3S and the Tanoto Foundation on Human Resource Development in the Context of Stunting Reduction and Prevention.

At the same time, the Head of BP3S Syahabuddin in his report said that he would compile materials or a Stunting Prevention Training Module, which could later be given and delivered to all Social Welfare HR.

"We will continue to explore the potential of the existing Social Welfare HR both through technical guidance/strengthening guidance and in the form of special training, so that they can understand and make efforts to prevent and reduce stunting," said the Head of BP3S.

Through this collaboration, the Tanoto Foundation will provide support in the form of capacity building for the review of the PKH Social Assistance training module, as well as training programs for trainers on a national scale. This support will have an impact on increasing the capacity of around 40 thousand PKH Social Facilitators currently available.
