The Collaboration of Social Rehabilitation Center of MoSA for Handling Children with Disabilities Experiencing Physical Violence in Sukabumi
SUKABUMI (5
December 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through Social Rehabilitation
Center “Phala Martha” Sukabumi, “Melati” Jakarta, and “Kahuripan” Sukabumi
picked up the child with the initials O and his grandfather to get services at the
Center.
This is a
follow-up to the visit of the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini on
Friday night (03/12) who immediately met O, a child with a disability who was
physically abused by an unknown person on December 1, 2021, in Sukabumi.
When the
team from 3 Centers belonging to the Ministry of Social Affairs arrived home on
Sunday (5/12), O and his grandfather were greeted with joy. It was seen that
they were ready and had packed up to be picked up and left for Jakarta.
According to
the results of the assessment and it has been agreed and decided by all family
members that O and his grandfather will receive services at the Center owned by
the Ministry of Social Affairs. O will receive treatment and speech therapy at “Melati”
Jakarta. O and his grandfather will be served together there.
The head of
the Jakarta "Melati” Center, Romal Sinaga, welcomed the enthusiasm of O
who was ready to be brought to the Center. "We will provide guidance,
treatment, and sensory hearing speech therapy for O to train his speech
skills", he said.
Paoji
Nurjaman as Chairman of Commission I DPRD Sukabumi Regency who was also present
said that the purpose of this pick-up was not to distance O and Grandpa from their
families.
The head of
the Phala Martha Center, Cup Santo said that 3 Centers belonging to the
Ministry of Social Affairs went down together to the location to pick up O and
his grandfather. "In addition, we also conducted an assessment of T, who
is O's brother," said Cup Santo.
T (19 years
old) was married to Y (21 years old) in 2018. From his marriage, he was blessed
with two children with the initials H (2 years) and J (9 months).
T is
currently not working, but previously worked as a Household Assistant in
Tangerang. Meanwhile, her husband (Y) currently works as a casual daily
laborer. Previously, he worked as a driver and coconut seller.
The Social
Worker of Phala Martha Center, Kusman said that T did not have any significant
barriers, but T had a chronic skin disease (itching) which was also passed on
to his two children.
"T's
first child also experienced obstacles in his development", said Kusman.
