The Importance of the Role of Social Assistance as a Graduasi of KPM

PONTIANAK (December 3rd 2019) - Secretariat of Directorate General of Poverty Handling held a coordinating meeting of food social Assistance in one of the hotels in Pontianak (03/12).  Invited guests in the event were attended by the head of the provincial social office of West Kalimantan and representatives of the Department of Cooperatives and SMES of West Kalimantan province. In addition, participants in the activities were attended by the PKH companion and Social welfare personnel of the subdistrict representing each district/city in West Kalimantan province.

The event was officially opened by Director General of Poverty Handling, Mr. Andi ZA Dulung who further also gave directions to the participants who were present in the coordination meeting activities. In his direction, he conveyed the cooperation of the Ministry of Social Affairs (central) and the provincial social service as well as the social service of the Regency/city, social assistance programs can be well coordinated. It made the government, the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), and the president increasingly believes in the programs that have been implemented by the Ministry of Social Affairs. "Plan to increase the index of BPNT previously Rp 110.000 per month will increase to Rp 150.000 per month in the coming year 2020 it is also not separated from the cooperation of central and well-coordinated areas," said Director General of Poverty Handling.

In addition, Director General of Poverty Handling also delivered plans in 2020 in mentoring family beneficiaries (KPM) in the field not only mentoring the program but also mentoring the family. "Later the escort's main task ensured that the family had all the programs that there were either the recipient contribution (PBI), BPNT, or PKH so that if all the programs were fulfilled, it is hoped that the family would be graduation," said Director General of Poverty Handling.

Furthermore, Director General of Poverty Handling also explained if social assistance cannot be given permanently. Therefore, there needs to be encouragement especially from the companion so that the KPM must obtain its own income so it does not continuously receive social assistance. According to Director General of Poverty Handling, there are three concepts in poor management of the KPM. First, the KPM was given social assistance to reduce its spending. "BPNT Program is giving rice and egg food. If counted, the aid can reduce the production of seven to ten days per KPM," said Director General of Poverty Handling.

Secondly, once given assistance is also given encouragement and motivation by the companion in order to have income. Such encouragement can be empowerment and science. Third, given capital. KUBE can be given for the start-up business, after the road business and visible development then can make a loan from both banks through the People's Business Credit (KUR), cooperatives, and programs of the Ministry of Finance or other programs provided by the Government. "So, these three things must be in tandem with the framework of the welfare and to establish the KPM," said Director General of Poverty Handling.
