JAKARTA (2
November 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs and the
Indonesian National Police (Polri) collaborate in supporting the fulfillment of
children's rights by providing Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) and
psychosocial support.
The
fulfillment of children's rights through ATENSI was given at the Psychosocial
Service for Children Affected by Covid-19 with the theme "Care for
Children, Resilient Indonesia" which was held by the Indonesian National
Police at the National Police Education and Training Institute, South Jakarta.
This ATENSI support
was given to 157 orphans, fatherless and motherless in the form of ATENSI
savings and for 29 children with disabilities in the form of accessibility aid.
ATENSI Savings
is worth Rp. 300 thousand per month for children not yet in school and Rp. 200
thousand per month for children already in school. Assistive devices for
children with disabilities are provided according to the results of the
assessment, namely in the form of wheelchairs, crutches, adaptive shoes, and
hearing aids. The distribution and assessment process is carried out by the
Technical Implementation Unit of the Ministry of Social Affairs, namely Social
Rehabilitation Center Handayani, Panasea,
Melati, and Mulya Jaya Jakarta.
"We are
still verifying the data of children throughout Indonesia in detail. We need
speed from the local government so that the data on orphans can be verified
immediately. Then they can quickly get ATENSI support and they are excited to
go to school", explained Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini.
Social
Minister Risma also thanked the Indonesian National Police for organizing
psychosocial service events for 2,333 children affected by Covid-19 simultaneously
throughout Indonesia.
A total of
297 children in DKI Jakarta participated directly in the National Police
Education and Training Institute, South Jakarta, the rest participated in the
Regional Police of the Republic of Indonesia (Polda) in each region in Indonesia.
"After
they face the condition of losing their parents, they need therapy to restore
their spirits. Especially school-age children, they are in shock because they
are thinking about whether they can continue school or not," said Social
Minister Tri Rismaharini.
The head of
the Indonesian National Police, Komjen Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, said that his
party ensures that children who have lost their families continue to grow and
be active as other children.
