The Ministry of Social Affairs Follows Up Viral News for the Poor Residents of Jatisari Village
SITUBONDO (September 8, 2021) - The Ministry of Social
Affairs through Social Rehabilitation Center "Prof.Dr.Soeharso"
Surakarta conducted a case response to the news on Detikkota.com on September
4, 2021, regarding the portrait of poverty in Jatisari Village, Situbondo
Regency, East Java, which stated that the villagers have never received
government assistance, sleep on mats and dirt floors, have poor road access,
and lack clean water.
Following up on the news,
the Case Response Team of the Surakarta "Soeharso" Center conducted
an assessment by visiting Jatisari Village accompanied by the Acting Head of Social
Service and Head of Social Rehabilitation Division of the Situbondo District
Social Service, Arjasa Sub-district Head, Jatisari Village Head, Polay Hamlet
Head, RT Ampenan TKSK Head, Sakti Peksos (Social Work Service Unit) and Tagana.
The team visited Polay
hamlet directly to obtain more accurate information about the news.
Information obtained that
the population of Polay hamlet is approximately 1,400 people whose livelihoods
are construction workers, farm laborers, rain-fed farmers (cassava, corn), and
breeding cattle. Most people breed cattle with a profit-sharing system.
The majority of the houses
are made of wood and have a dirt floor with access to a dirt road that is
difficult to pass during the rainy season.
Based on information from
the Polay Hamlet apparatus, many people in the Polay Hamlet of Ampenan have
received government assistance, including PKH, BPNT, BST, and BLT DD (Direct
Cash Assistance for Village Funds) amounting to Rp. 300,000, - /month.
The hope of the people of
Dukuh Polay Dusun Ampenan is for assistance, including RTLH (livable houses) and
road access improvements. The local village government has submitted a proposal
for road repair but it has not been realized so far. The need for clean water
will be realized this year through the budget from the APBD.
