SOUTH TANGERANG (26 September 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through Social Rehabilitation Center “Handayani”, “Mulya Jaya”, “Melati” Jakarta, and the Quick Response Team (TRC) responded to the case to Pamulang, South Tangerang. The Ministry of Social Affairs team coordinated with the South Tangerang City Social Service and conducted an assessment at the Shelter House owned by the regional government.

Previously, a portrait of a 10-month-old baby painted in silver went viral on social media. The baby was taken begging by his mother. Knowing this, the Minister of Social Affairs through the Director General of Social Rehabilitation, Harry Hikmat immediately ordered the Ministry of Social Affairs Team to come down to respond to the case on Sunday (26/09).

Based on the results of the assessment, it is known that the baby has been brought to the street for 2 months.

"It's been 2 months since I've been a silver human, ma'am," said Rani (not her real name) who is the biological mother of a silver human baby to the social worker of Handayani Center.

According to Rani, she has started singing and becoming a silver human since she dropped out of school 2 years ago. She had stopped because she was pregnant and gave birth.

"From giving birth until her child was 6 months old, I lived with my father in Brebes, ma'am, then I moved again to Jakarta", she said.

Living in Jakarta with a baby is certainly not easy for Rani who is not even 18 years old. In the end, this is what prompted her to take her baby to the streets to become a silver man.

"I need money ma'am to pay rent, eat, buy milk and baby diapers. From the results of going to the streets, it's pretty good ma'am, I can cover it even though sometimes it's still lacking," said Rani while holding her baby.

According to Rani, every day she starts taking to the streets from 10 am and comes home at 10 pm. All day on the road, Rani can pocket 80 thousand rupiahs to 150 thousand rupiahs which she uses to meet her daily needs.

Life is never easy for Rani. She had been neglected by her mother since she was a baby, and her father remarried. Plus now she has to raise her baby without a family and a father because according to Rani, she was never legally married to her baby's biological father.

But that didn't make her want to give up on the situation. After talking with the Ministry of Social Affairs Team, Rani wants to reach her new future.

"Yes, ma'am, if I may, I want to open a business, ma'am. Back in Brebes, I had the opportunity to help my aunt sell Chicken Noodles, so I know a little about it", she said when asked by a social worker about her hopes and dreams.

Rani also agreed to be taken to the Ministry of Social Affairs Center in Bambu Apus to receive social rehabilitation and vocational training.

Rani's case is one of many cases that have come to the attention of the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini. She emphasized the quick response to the handling of social problems in the community. Risma said that the Technical Implementation Unit of MoSA should continue to accompany the case of the silver human child and the family.

Meanwhile, the Head of Handayani Center, Hasrifah Musa said that the Center will coordinate with various parties for the best interests of the child, especially for the silver human child who is being handled.

"This is our joint task. From our friends in the field, we know that the mother of this baby is also still a child. It means a child who has a child. Therefore, we will also be concerned about social rehabilitation, in addition to vocational training. Maybe we later, we will teach parenting so that things like this (child become silver human - red) don't happen again," she explained.
