POLEWALI MANDAR (September 3, 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through the Social Rehabilitation Center responds to the attention of orphans whose mothers are Persons With Human Immunodeficiency Virus (PLWHIV) in Polewali Mandar, West Sulawesi.

 

Head of Social Rehabilitation Center “Pangurangi” Takalar, Pengalamen Surbakti who received the Counselor's report from the Health Service who said there were 2 orphans where the mothers were PLWHIV. Surbakti added, following the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, to focus more on assisting to orphans, fatherless and motherless in the service areas of the Ministry of Social Affairs service centers and workshops in the regions.

 

Counselor for the Polewali Mandar District Health Office, Yusri, said that his mother works as a mixed goods salesperson to support the nutritional needs of her 2 children, while currently, they live with their parents-in-law, although she is still very young, the mother tries hard to meet her child's milk needs and works 7 days a week with an income of Rp 30-45 thousand per day depending on sales, continued Yusri.

 

The Pangurangi Social Counselor, Qadriansyah, who responded to the report and conducted an assessment of the PLWHIV mother, said that currently, the assistance provided was nutritional assistance in the form of baby milk, necessities, baby diapers, wet wipes, and baby equipment will be entered as a recipient of monthly attention assistance, according to the direction of the Ministry of Social Affairs," said Qadriansyah.
