SORONG (17 August 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through the Social Rehabilitation Center Soeharso Surakarta is back in Papua, specifically in Sorong Regency, West Papua to distribute the Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) by providing Mobility Aids for Social Welfare Services Recipient (PPKS) for Persons with Disabilities at the Sinagi Handayani Foundation.

 

Previously, the Sinagi Handayani Foundation submitted a request for assistance with prosthetic limbs for 3 (three) people to the Ministry of Social Affairs.

 

The ATENSI officers from the Soeharso Center who attended were the Head of Technical Services for Social Rehabilitation Triyanto and the Prothese and Orthose Workshop officers Daryono.

 

Furthermore, the officers coordinated with the Sorong District Social Service and the Sinagi Handayani Sorong Foundation, then conducted an assessment of 5 (five) Persons with Disabilities.

 

From the results of the assessment, it is necessary to have 3 lower knee prostheses, 1 lower elbow prostheses and 1 long leg brace orthose. Based on the results of the assessment, measurements were made according to the needs of persons with disabilities.

 

In addition to assessing and measuring assistive devices, the Soeharso Surakarta Center conducted dissemination of the ATENSI Program to the Sorong District Social Service, TKSK, Disability Assistants, Social Work Service Unit, and the Sinagi Handayani Foundation.

Amatus Turot as the Acting Head of the Social Service Office of Sorong Regency expressed his gratitude for the positive response from the Ministry of Social Affairs regarding the request for assistive devices. Amatus hopes that in the future the Ministry of Social Affairs will collaborate with the Sorong District Social Service Office is increasing.

At the same place, Lodewiek Salami as the Head of the Sinagi Handayani Foundation expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Social Affairs for providing prostheses and orthoses for children with disabilities.

"Hopefully this tool can help them for mobility," continued Lodewiek.
