LUMAJANG (14 December 2021) – Social Rehabilitation Center “Soeharso” Surakarta in collaboration with the Team from the Directorate of Child Social Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Disaster Management Agency, TAGANA, Sakti Peksos (Social Workers Service Unit) carried out psychological support activities for children affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru, Lumajang, East Java.

 

This activity is an activity that has been scheduled by the Main Post of Penanggal Village. This command post coordinates and manages the schedule for LDP activities for all refugees. All volunteers or institutions that will fill LDP activities are expected to coordinate in advance to determine the schedule and activities to be carried out.

 

As of December 14, 2021, LDP activities from various institutions and volunteers have been scheduled until December 16, 2021. LDP activities at the LDP Command Post of the Ministry of Social Affairs are divided into two sessions. The first session was held at 09.00 - 10.30 WIB and the second session was held at 15.00 - 16.30 WIB.

 

The first session was filled by the Elohim Sidoarjo community and HIMPAUDI Madiun with playing activities with refugee children. The second session was filled by the Central Java Regional Police by providing psychological support for children, playing together, and expressing emotions by drawing and coloring, as well as relaxation to calm the mind and motivate children. In addition to getting psychosocial support.

 

On the sidelines of the scheduled activities, the LDP team at Soeharso Center Surakarta also carried out activities, including counseling/consultation and special motivation for refugee residents who were still experiencing trauma, so that they had difficulty sleeping and showed physical symptoms of dizziness, nausea, and refusal to eat. Serving the reception of guests from institutions, foundations, social organizations, communities, and groups who wish to assist in the form of caring.

 

In addition to these activities, at night, the children also receive spiritual guidance in the form of mentoring for the Maghrib prayer in congregation followed by reciting, memorizing, interpreting accompanied by movements to facilitate memorization, Q.S Surat Abasa. Religious spiritual guidance is provided by Nusantara Mosque volunteers at 08.00 - 20.00 WIB.

 

As for the update of refugee data at the Penanggal Field Refugee Command Post, as of December 14, 2021, 213 people took refuge in 11 tents. By classification, among others, there are 129 adults, 53 children, 8 toddlers, 2 pregnant women, 19 elderly, and 2 people with disabilities.
