MAKASSAR (November 6, 2020) - As a form of appreciation and legitimacy in assisting the successful implementation of social welfare, the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs continues to improve and increase the accreditation of Social Welfare Institutions (LKS).

The Accreditation Board for Social Welfare Institutions (BALKS) of the Ministry of Social Affairs supervises and controls the Social Welfare Institutions (LKS) to be accredited.

The Head of the Educational Research and Social Counseling Agency (BP3S) Syahbuddin accompanied by the Head of the Center for Professional Development of Social Workers and Social Counselors and the BALKS team visited the LKS to be accredited, namely the Baji Ateka Foundation in Makassar.

The Head of BP3S on that occasion said that LKS must obtain accreditation.

"LKS must be accredited because it is regulated in the Minister of Social Affairs Regulation No. 17 of 2012 which mandates that LKS as one of the pillars involved in social welfare efforts be accredited," said the Head of BP3S.

Furthermore, Syahabuddin emphasized that this accreditation is to assess eligibility and standardization in accordance with minimum service standards and social service standards (social rehabilitation standards) set by the Minister of Social Affairs Regulation," he said.

BALKS as an independent institution authorized to assess LKS accreditation carries out its duties objectively, maintains the quality of the assessment, and provides recommendations to central and local governments to improve service quality and organizational management.

Thus, Social Welfare Service Recipients (PPKS) can get good and safe services in accordance with social service standards.
