MAGELANG (24 Mei 2022) - On the 2022 Elderly Day, the Antasena Center in Magelang is holding a blood donation activity that is open to the public. This activity received a positive response and enthusiasm from the employees of the Center, the Beneficiaries (PM), and the community around the Center. 48 participants registered but who passed the screening process and were declared eligible to donate blood to as many as 22 people.

The Head of Subsection of the Administration Antasena Center in Magelang, Arif Nurhidayat, stated that this blood donation activity was carried out ahead of the National Elderly Day 2022 and to show the concern of the Center staff and the community around the Antasena Center in helping other people in need of blood.

"Seeing the high enthusiasm of the employees and the surrounding community, we hope that this activity can become a routine activity of the Antasena Center because apart from being able to help other people, it is also very beneficial for the body because donating blood, there will be the regeneration of cells in the body. We also get medical check-up services because at the time of screening our blood pressure and blood condition will be checked, then after our blood is taken it will be examined in the laboratory to see if there is a disease or not in our blood,” he added.

Darmanto, one of the donor participants, conveyed his impressions and messages.

"I am very happy to be able to participate in this blood donation activity, I hope other participants will do the same. For those who haven't, hopefully, they can be moved to participate in donating blood because a drop of our blood is very valuable for those in need", he concluded.

This blood donation activity was carried out in collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Magelang Regency. Doctor Nurul the team leader assigned by PMI Magelang Regency today stated "Donating blood is very good for the health of the body, especially if it is done regularly because it can regenerate body cells, increase red blood cell production, and detect serious diseases. We will test the collected blood first in the laboratory to determine whether there are indications of infectious diseases that can be transmitted through blood transfusions. If an indication is found, the blood will not be donated and we will destroy it. The destruction is carried out in collaboration with a legally certified medical waste management institution. I hope that blood donation activities become a routine agenda for the Antasena Center of Magelang and PMI of Magelang Regency".

Today's Antasena Magelang Center blood donation activity went smoothly. This activity is an effort to reduce the soaring cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) and also to welcome the coming of the National Elderly Day 2022 with the theme "Healthy Elderly, Strong Indonesia".
