JAMBI (August 27, 2020) - Children are the smallest unit in society who need protection and support during periods of development and growth. The role of the family in the process is one of the keys so that children can carry out their social roles and capabilities in their environment.
In order to answer these demands, the "Alyatama" Children's Center as one of the UPT owned by the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia held activities for Strengthening Children and Families. This activity took place in the Meeting Room for parents, and the Futsal Field for all beneficiaries.
The activity was attended by the Head of the Social Services and Rehabilitation Section, the Head of the Social Assessment and Advocacy Section, social workers, mental coaches, nurses and 10 representatives of the beneficiary families. The purpose of this activity is so that the families of each beneficiary can play a full role in increasing the capacity of the child after the child has successfully completed the social rehabilitation period at the center.
Families of beneficiaries had the opportunity to receive reinforcement through interactive lectures and dialogues with resource persons, namely the Head of the Social Services and Rehabilitation Section, Nurhasanah Seprianita, the Head of the Social Assessment and Advocacy Section, Lifyarman, and the clinical psychologist from the hall, Dessy Pramudyani. The theme echoed in this activity is "Realizing Prosperous Children's Dreams of Families''.
Nurhasanah in her speech expressed her gratitude for the arrival of the family and wanted the family to play a full role after the beneficiary returned to the family.
“From now on we need to cultivate closer attachment, communication and relationship with our children. So that later they will understand that their family is the place where they can grow and develop well,” added Nurhansanah.
Dessy Pramudyani in her presentation entitled "Becoming an Inspirational Parent" explained to the beneficiary families that children will always follow the movements shown by the adults around them. Dessy also emphasized that the family should always give an example of the good things that have been instilled in the beneficiaries while at the hall after returning to the family.
“Children can adopt maladaptive behavior when outside the home even though their parents never teach them. When this happens, parents must be able to explain the negative or positive side of what the child is doing because the child has not been able to distinguish between good and bad," said Dessy.
The target of this activity is not only the families of the beneficiaries but also the beneficiaries of the “Alyatama'' Children's Center. All beneficiaries are accompanied by social workers when participating in various games by forming three teams. The games held were Stacko Uno, Towel Relay, Banana Hula Hoop, and various other agility games.
