"Alyatama" Children's Center Provides Wheelchair for AN
JAMBI (April 20, 2021) - “Every day I accompany
AN goes to school. Thank God, now I am allowed to use a motorbike and accompany
AN until the front of the class,” explained Munif.
Munif, a middle-aged man
who is the father of AN, told of his journey with his wife in raising AN. When
met at his residence, Munif said that AN had experienced spatial paralysis
since he was in grade 3 Elementary School. Since AN was paralyzed, his parents
have always delivered their child to school. AN cannot move parts of his body
suddenly so that almost all AN activities require help from other people.
The Ministry of Social
Affairs through the "Alyatama" Children's Center rushed to take steps
to help by making a video of AN that had gone viral on social media pages. The
video was uploaded on 6 April 6 2021 by AN’s teacher to capture the public's
attention. It can be seen in the video that AN is accompanied by his mother
when he comes home from school.
Following the direction
of the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, that the Center is obliged
to respond quickly to social problems in society. The “Alyatama” Children's
Center team consisting of the Head of the Center, the Head of the Social
Rehabilitation Service Section, and Social Workers are involved in ensuring
that children get services through ATENSI program by using problem and needs
assessments.
“At first AN looked limp,
then he was easy to fall if his friend hit him. From there I suspected that there’s
something wrong with AN. I brought AN for treatment but said the doctor who
handled AN at that time, did not find any disease. Even though it is clear
that my child cannot move,” said Munif.
Steps that have been
taken by "Alyatama" Children Center, namely the fulfillment of
wheelchair for AN through coordination with the Chairman of the Jambi
Provincial House of Representatives, Edi Purwanto. The handover of the
wheelchair was carried out symbolically at the AN school. Lifyarman as the Head
of the Center hopes that the wheelchair can help AN's mobility in his daily
activities.
“The wheelchair is currently being given is temporary while waiting for the wheelchair that uses remote technology. In addition to helping AN mobility, the wheelchair that uses remote technology also support AN to do his activities without waiting for help from others," added Lifyarman.
