SURAKARTA (8 September 2020) - The "Prof. Dr. Soeharso" Center belonging to the Ministry of Social Affairs in Surakarta received a working visit from the East Java Provincial DPRD from Commission E (Welfare) which was welcomed directly by the Head of the Center, Heri Krissritanto in the hall's courtroom.
This working visit aims to share information related to the implementation of East Java provincial regulation No. 3 of 2013 on Protection and Services for Physical Disabilities.
In his speech, Heri conveyed an integrated service system in the form of the Social Service Center (SERASI) which has begun to be implemented at the "Prof. Dr. Soeharso" Surakarta Hall. SERASI is in addition to providing outreach services as well as a temporary shelter.
In the opening remarks by the representative of Commission E, Hikmah Bawakih that Commission E for the Welfare Sector pays attention to the Technical Implementing Unit (UPT) as the spearhead of services to Social Welfare Service Recipients (PPKS), namely persons with physical disabilities. "The initiative initiated by the Ministry of Social Affairs through Social Rehabilitation Center "Prof. Dr. Soeharso" Surakarta is extraordinary," said Hikmah.
"We also appreciate and are waiting for intervention from the Ministry of Social Affairs in this case the Rehabilitation Center "Prof. Dr. Soeharsoā€¯ Surakarta in terms of educating parents and families of people with physical disabilities," said Hikmah along with 35 members from all factions and the East Java Provincial Social Service.
Hikmah also agrees with what Heri said about medical rehabilitation which, if not rehabilitated or left unchecked, will kill the potential of persons with disabilities who can actually move to develop better life skills.
Then, members of the East Java Provincial DPRD from Commission E visited the prostheses and orthoses workshop to see the robotic hands. This robotic hand is a pilot project from Balai Besar "Prof. Dr. Soeharso" Surakarta by following more modern technology in the manufacture of prosthetic hands.
Heri also showed modifications to the wheelchair. This wheelchair is modified according to its designation for people with physical disabilities to meet the needs of a comfortable wheelchair.
