BBRSPDI "Kartini" Launched SWP in Kulonprogo
KULONPROGO (11 November 2019) - The Center for Social Rehabilitation of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (BBRSPDI) "Kartini" in Temanggung launched the "Kulonprogo Bangkit" Sheltered Workshop (SWP) at SLBN 1 Kulonprogo, Kulonprogo Regency. This program is a collaboration with the Social Service for Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (Dinsos PPPA) Kulonprogo.
The head of BBRSPDI "Kartini" Temanggung, Murhardjani, stated that SWP was an effort of BBRSPDI "Kartini" Temanggung to provide job opportunities and protection for persons with intellectual disabilities in the area. Its activities include, guidance, social activeness, and skills for productive economic enterprises. "The beneficiaries (PM) of this program are alumni of SLBN 1 Kulonprogo" said Murhardjani.
According to Murhardjani, sheltered workshops are an alternative route to provide suitable job opportunities for persons with intellectual disabilities.
"Persons with intellectual disabilities can still be in the midst of their family without being a burden because they are able to earn," he said.
The program which has received appreciation from the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reforms (Kemenpan RB) in the form of Top 40 Public Service Innovations for 2018 is in 2019 implemented in nine locations in Central Java, East Java, and the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY).
The SWP activity at SLBN 1 Kulonprogo, Panjatan District, Kulonprogo Regency was attended by 21 persons with intellectual disabilities. Five people were prepared to assist the beneficiaries. The launch, which was coupled with the signing of the collaboration between BBRSPDI "Kartini" Temanggung and Social Service of PPPA Kulonprogo Regency, was attended by the Regional Government and its staff as well as the Heads of Special Schools in Kulonprogo Regency.
