BRSPDF "Wirajaya" Synergizes with the Bulukumba District Government and PERDIK
MAKASSAR (December 31st 2019) - The Social Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Physical Disabilities (BRSPDF) "Wirajaya" Makassar in collaboration with the Bulukumba Regency Government (Pemkab) and the Indonesian Disability Movement for Equality (PERDIK) of South Sulawesi signed a cooperation agreement in realizing an Inclusive Village in Bulukumba Regency.
Kambuno Village is one of the villages in Bulukumba Regency which was initiated into an Inclusion Village. Interestingly, the pilot program to create an inclusive village was initiated in a participatory manner. "There are many inclusive villages in Indonesia, but the majority are initiated by donor Non Government Organizations (NGOs). So once an NGO program is finished, it is usually not sustainable anymore. However, for Kambuno Village we create a participatory Inclusion Village, where the desire is truly born out of the wishes of the community and is supported by the alignment of local government policies," said the Head of BRSPDF "Wirajaya" Syaiful Samad when delivering his speech.
In front of the Regent and Chairman of the Bulukumba DPRD, Syaiful also explained in general the main duties of the Center in providing social rehabilitation services for persons with physical disabilities. Where the social rehabilitation program remains focused and refers to the Social Rehabilitation Program (Progress) 5.0 New Platform which was initiated by the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Social RI.
Even technically, by still referring to the Progress 5.0 New Platform, Syaiful conveyed several stages of the implementation of activities carried out by the BRSPDF "Wirajaya" in Kambuno Village as a step towards realizing an inclusive village. Starting from coordination meetings with stakeholders, socialization and education meetings as well as stakeholder strengthening, the distribution of aid aims (to help) in the form of tools and stimulant assistance for productive economic enterprises. Including the Center and the Bulukumba Regency Government have conducted a review of the Guiding Block as well as several disability-friendly public buildings in Kambuno village.
At the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement for inclusion village pioneering, the BRSPDF "Wirajaya" also handed over wheelchair assistance to be used by the Kambuno Village government in facilitating accessibility for persons with disabilities to get government services at the village office. "So later this wheelchair will be stored in the village office, so that persons with disabilities can use it if there is management at the village office," said Syaiful.
Meanwhile, the Regent of Bulukumba A.M.Sukri Sappewali appreciated the signing of the cooperation agreement for inclusion village pioneering. Even the district government is ready to host the National Inclusion Gathering which will be held in Bulukumba in 2020.
Attending the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement for inclusion village pioneering were the Deputy Regent of Bulukumba Tomy Satria Yulianto, Chairman of the Bulukumba DPRD Muh. Rijal and also several officials within the Bulukumba Regency government.
