JAKARTA (16 July 2021) - The Director General of Social Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Harry Hikmat, was a speaker in the Social Rehabilitation Assistance Webinar (ATENSI), Implementation and Synergy at the Grassroots Social Pillars in 2021.

This webinar was organized by Pangudi Luhur Social Rehabilitation Center of Bekasi aims to socialize the ATENSI program and the ATENSI Creation Center to Social Pillars, one of which is Community Social Workers (PSM). In addition, this webinar also aims to increase the capacity of PSM to maximize ATENSI services.

PSM is one of the social pillars that is close to the community. Currently, there are 67,668 PSM and 7,230 District Social Welfare Workers. PSM and TKSK have a concern for social problems that occur in the community.

"This is a potential that needs to be confirmed in its roles in the field. Such as a joint movement both in assistance efforts in the field and in implementing government programs," said Harry.

A new initiative from the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, is that Social Rehabilitation Centers must be multifunctional so that all social rehabilitation clusters must be handled such as clusters of Children, Persons with Disabilities, Elderly, Victims of Drug Abuse and Persons with Social Deviance Issues and Trafficking Victims.

Therefore, the responsibility of all the Center will be greater and will require a large number of human resources capable of providing information on social issues in the region. "Because of its position at the grass root, the existence of Community Social Workers (PSM) is something that has the function of initiator, motivator, dynamist, and administrator," said Harry.

The Ministry of Social Affairs needs volunteers who provide information on the whereabouts of people experiencing social problems. Not limited to public spaces, but in areas such as villages.

"For example, there are residents who are self-isolating in the village, in limited circumstances they need food. Then some have lost their jobs, so here lies the importance of PSM providing information to the Center so that the problem is immediately responded to," Harry ordered.

Harry added that it would be more complete if PSM underwent technical guidance in dealing with social problems. So that when responding to cases, PSM can understand the handling of social problems with ATENSI services.

ATENSI services not only make efforts to change attitudes and behavior but must ensure economic independence. The goal is for beneficiaries to get out of the poverty trap.

This ATENSI service consists of 7 components, including support for fulfilling a decent life, social care, family support, therapy (physical, psychosocial, and mental-spiritual therapy), vocational training and entrepreneurship development, social assistance, and accessibility support.

Then, continued Harry, this New Era Minister of Social Affairs Risma directed that the practice of Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation should not run alone, but be integrated with Directorate General of Social Empowerment, Protection and Social Security and Poverty Handling.

The Ministry of Social Affairs has also developed the ATENSI Creation Center as a center for entrepreneurship and vocational development as well as a media for promoting the work of beneficiaries in one area. The ATENSI Creation Center can also be accessed by beneficiaries so that they can market their work in the form of food, souvenirs, and others.

Head of Pangudi Luhur Center of Bekasi, Kokom Komalawati said that her party hoped that a strong synergy could be realized. "We hope that a strong synergy can be built between the Center, PSM, and Sub District Social Welfare Workers (TKSK) in Bekasi. Moreover, we are currently implementing family-based ATENSI services in Bekasi Regency and City," he said.

A Member of the Community Social Worker (PSM), Rais said that this is an honor for his party. "On behalf of PSM, we thank you for the trust given by the Ministry of Social Affairs. This is our provision to understand and know what to do in helping the need for Social Welfare Services Recipients (PPKS), especially in Bekasi Regency/City," he said

This activity was attended by more than 200 virtual participants consisting of PSM of Bekasi Regency/City and employees of Pangudi Luhur Bekasi.
