Commemorating HLUN, Meohai Center Performs Elderly Blood Donation Action and Gymnastics
KENDARI (June 3, 2022) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through the
Meohai Kendari Center commemorated the 26th National Elderly Day (HLUN) 2022 by
holding a Blood Donation Social Action and Gymnastics. The theme of this
commemoration was "Healthy Elderly, Strong Indonesia". The Elderly
Gymnastics Action was attended by 20 elderly from Kendari City at the Meohai Center
hall yard, while the Blood Donation Social Action was held by 50 volunteer
blood donors participating.
The Elderly Gymnastics and social action for blood
donation in the framework of the 26th HLUN 2022 is the first activity organized
by the Meohai Center in collaboration with Kendari City Elderly cadres and the
Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Hospital Kendari City. The Elderly Gymnastics which
was attended by 20 Elderly cadres of Kendari City was coupled with a health
check for the Elderly which included checking blood pressure, blood sugar,
cholesterol, and uric acid.
The Kendari City PMI Hospital welcomed the
implementation of the blood donation by mobilizing 6 medical personnel to take
part in taking the blood of volunteers equipped with complete medical
equipment. Before the blood was taken, 50 volunteers were first checked for
their health condition, and then their blood was taken according to the
predetermined blood donor criteria.
It should be noted that some of the volunteer blood
donors are also attended by persons with disabilities, both blind and deaf.
According to Syahid Khairullah Hadini, a doctor from the PMI Hospital in
Kendari City, he stated that the enthusiasm of blood donors at the Meohai
Center was quite satisfactory. At least 50 people were examined, and most
of them met the criteria.
"In my opinion, the enthusiasm of the donors
has been very good, both from normal people and persons with disabilities, so
we think this is enough to help provide bloodstock at PMI," said Shahid.
The head of the Meohai Kendari Center, Budi
Sucahyono, had previously mobilized all his staff who met the health criteria
as donors to voluntarily donate blood because it can save the lives of others.
"This is the first time we have carried out
this blood donation event, but thank God it went well and smoothly. This is a
social office that we carry out within the framework of the HLUN which we
previously carried out in Ciawi District, Tasikmalaya Regency," said Budi.
