TASIKMALAYA (May 29, 2022) - After a series of activities assisting the elderly that had been carried out previously, today the highlight of the 2022 National Elderly Day commemoration in Bantarkalong District, Tasikmalaya Regency was held at the Hegarwangi Village Sports Hall (GOR).

 

Since the morning, the elderly have started coming to the GOR to take part in a series of events consisting of Arabic music performances from the health center for the elderly, providing assistance and health checks for the elderly involving medical personnel from Bantarkalong Health Center, Tasikmalaya District.

 

"I was checked by the doctor for my blood pressure. They asked if I had a cough, shortness of breath, thank God I was healthy, and the doctor gave me vitamins," said Empat, one of the elderly who took part in the health check-up.

 

The same happiness was also felt by the elderly recipients of assistance who attended this event.

 

"It's very frustrating to receive assistance from MoSA, thank you very much to all people," said Sukmini, one of the elderly recipients of wheelchair assistance from Hegarwangi Village.

 

On this occasion, the Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini also greeted the elderly by streaming into 39 sub-districts including in Bantarkalong District, in her speech Risma said that the role of the elderly was very important in the development of social welfare. "The elderly have a role in preserving social values ​​and norms, so they can preserve the value of national solidarity and pass on the nation's culture," said Risma when inaugurating the 26th National Elderly Day 2022 in Tasikmalaya Regency.

 

Commemoration of the 26th National Elderly Day this year touches the elderly more through the provision of various assistance. Galih Pakuan Center Bogor has assisted 356 elderly in the form of providing nutrition and necessities packages, assistive devices for disability sticks, wheelchairs and hearing aids, PKH assistance, and household equipment for the rehabilitation of uninhabitable houses with a total of IDR 1,986,976,000.

 

This assistance is expected to be able to help the condition of the elderly in need and inspire them to realize a prosperous, independent, and dignified elderly.
