The Ministry of Social Affairs through the “Gau Mabaji” Elderly Center in Gowa as one of the Technical Implementation Units (UPT) within the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation will hold the HLUN Commemoration Peak Event on June 3, 2021.

Welcoming the theme "Elderly Happy with Family". This time, Gau Mabaji invited the elderly with their families and all levels of society to participate in enlivening the 25th HLUN by holding a Cheap Bazaar in the Center’s Yard.

Wahidin, Head of the Gau Mabaji Elderly Center in Gowa, said that the Bazaar activity was intended so that the elderly who were the main targets of the activity could have a family room to commemorate National Elderly Day. He also said that several large companies such as those around the Center participated in enlivening this activity.

"We are partnering with two giant food companies, namely Wingsfood and Indofood, in the bazaar which provides various basic needs such as rice, eggs, cooking oil, milk, instant noodles, food, and soft drinks," Wahidin explained.

In addition, the highlight of the event was also filled with the signing of a memorandum of understanding by four institutions, namely the Indonesian Inter-Population Radio (RAPI), Hasanuddin University, Alauddin State Islamic University (UIN) and Mega Rezky University. The signing of this MoU marks the expansion of partners and networks of the “Gau Mabaji” Elderly Center in Gowa.

The event continued with the symbolic handing over of Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) program to one elderly recipient of hearing aids, two elderly recipients of wheelchairs and three elderly recipients of walking aids (canes), 210 elderly recipients of family-based Social Rehabilitation Assistance in the Province of South Sulawesi, namely North Luwu Regency and Soppeng Regency each worth 210 million for 105 elderly.

Acting Head of the Social Service of South Sulawesi Province, Muhammad Hasan Basri Ambarala expressed his gratitude for the assistance that had been given to the community in South Sulawesi Province and appreciated the activities that had been carried out.

"We appreciate the peak event of the 25th HLUN which was held at the "Gau Mabaji" Elderly Center in Gowa, in this large and beautiful environment, the elderly can celebrate HLUN without worrying because all participants adhere to health protocols," said Hasan Basri.

These services include meeting the needs of a decent living, social care, family support, therapy (physical, psychosocial, mental, and spiritual), vocational training and/or entrepreneurship coaching, social assistance, and accessibility support.

Meanwhile, to support the fulfillment of health services for the elderly, the Center also prepares a health check booth.
