GARUT (April 7, 2024) - In a small hut with a tarpaulin roof in the middle of the forest, Mamah (72), a resident of Cidatar Village, Bojong Village, Banjarwangi Subdistrict, Garut Regency, has to live alone. The location is about 140 kilometers east of the center of Bandung.

“I have been living here for almost a year,” said Mamah, explaining the condition of her house.

Mamah's daily activity is gardening around her hut. “After the departure of her husband, Mamah lived with her brother who was economically poor.

Last year, Mamah was also invited to live with her step-granddaughter,” said Adi Juliyanto, an officer at the Bekasi Pangudi Luhur Integrated Center (STPL).

Even so, her step-grandson has not been able to fulfill their daily needs. His only job is as a farm laborer.

Knowing this condition, the Ministry of Social Affairs responded to Mamah's condition. The Ministry of Social Affairs team through local regional elements worked together to help Mamah by built a place to live for Mamah with more decent conditions.

Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) was also provided to Mamah in the form of house equipment, room facilities, and kitchen facilities for Mamah's survival. The Ministry of Social Affairs also provided cash assistance to meet Mamah's basic needs.

“Alhamdulillah, her house has been built thanks to community self-help. We will continue to monitor and ensure that Mamah's daily needs can be fulfilled,” Adi concluded.
